buy backpack. No haggling
((Or do I already have one?))

You definitely don't; in fact, even now, you can't carry one without getting rid of your armor.

In that case, put enough of my RP in the bank so I have the max, then go look around the shops to see if there's any better weapons.

(Hmm. May I change my equipment before joining in? I was thinking of going with more 'actual adventurer' equipment, like exchanging the armor for a backpack and the sword for an axe, since both of the latter are more useful to a constant traveler than the former is. I mean, sword and armor are nice in a fight, but a backpack can carry necessary things and an axe can serve more functions than killing. :P

This is what the new inventory would look like:
Inventory:
Head - None
Neck - None
Torso - Backpack (?/?), Flask of oil (1/X2)
Arms - Rations (X2)
Hands - Torch (1)
Belt - Waterskin (1/X3), Iron Axe(?/?)
Feet - Knife (1)
Exp/Effort/Resources/RT: 3/1/1/0)

Of course you can! The samples were just things to speed up the char gen process. When you say Axe can you give me an indication of the size? Then I can decide cost and slot count

(I'm thinking probably a single-bladed axe, large enough to fight with if need be but not too large as to be cumbersome since it would normally be a tool. Usually used one-handed. The one on the far right here is pretty much what I have in mind, just... less fancy than that, I suppose.)

Gotcha, that should have the specs of a long sword then. It has no sheath but you can still tie to your belt (and use your belt to hold it). May I also suggest some rope?

(Sounds like a good idea to me. ^^^ Is it cool to begin whenever, now that the inventory stuff is out of the way? Just asking because I don't want to be cutting in line or anything like that. >.>)

Well the way the game works is each player is part of a party (though he can go it alone if he chooses) and works together as one. Right now though everyone is in town so each person can take actions individually as they see fit. So you're not cutting in line or anything

(OK, cool. ^^^)

Some time later, a man entered the town. He was early middle-aged and weathered, his black hair crudely cut close to his scalp and his beard kept short if somewhat thick. Between his tan, his equipment, the dirt on his well-worn clothes, and his mien in general, it was obvious he was a man who spent a lot of time on the road. Right now, his attention was focused on the letter in his right hand, occasionally glancing from it to the buildings around him.

"...Looks like the right place. Guess I'll try the tavern first; if he's got silver crowns to throw around, he's probably drinking at least one of them away."

Logan heads to the Tavern to Hear Rumors.

Arvin is in the tavern, as it turns out, indeed enjoying the last of his coin. He waves away the attractive redhead he'd been 'bargaining' with, breaking into a wide smile at the sight of his old friend. Logan would notice that Arvin seems to be enjoying the fruits of his wealth-mostly clean, well spun clothes, a large backpack that smells of fresh leather, and an impressive new Khatwood (called Ironwood in some places, and just as strong) staff at his side. Even Arvin's trademark pointy hat (a sham wizards hat if there ever was one) seems to have been washed, shined, and straightened...

"...Logan Glass! My good friend. Sit! For once, the drinks are on me."

Action: Buy a backpack with an additional pocket, equip it to my torso. Also buy 2 rations, and an oil.
Attach my satchel to my belt. If I can't do this, cancel action.

I should actually have 8 RP (started 2, earned 7, spent 7) so now I'm at 1.

((Inventory should be something like this, I think.

Inventory:
Head - Pointed Hat (0/1)
Neck - None
Torso -Backpack+Pocket (2/6)
Arms - None
Hands -Gnarled Khat Branch Staff
Belt - Waterskin (1/X3), Satchel(1/3)
Feet -  None
Satchel- Oil(x1), Rations(x2)
Backpack- Spiced Tobacco (1)
Exp/Effort/Resources/RT: 3/3/1/0))

Logan sat at the table across from Arvin, placing his left ankle on his right knee and leaning back in his chair, his right elbow resting on the back of it. "Glad to hear it. I've walked a mighty long way and worked up a thirst." He held up the letter. "I guess I'm just lucky no one thought to open the letter, or you would've wasted money. This found me out back of Wick Forest, a run-down little shanty town I don't even remember the name of. Good people though."

He'd used the crown to buy the supplies to make it back through the forest and across many miles of road. It hadn't been easy to make the journey in as little time as he had but when an old friend said he had a job that needed doing and wanted some help, you made the trip or you weren't a friend worth having. "So, you already found work out this way?"

"Yes. It was a simple job, almost a jest-a noble wanted a comb from her mothers grave, in some great ballyhooed cursed magic tomb. They stiffed us on the payment, surprisingly-but, there were compensations-mostly a dresser made of Khat branches. Without it, I doubt I would have made any profit at all/

As for the money I sent, I considered it-and you-a good investment. Talk is merely wind and words, my friend-but hard coin always proves true. I know there's opportunities here, and I needed to be sure you'd come."

Arvin's cheerful demeanor pales a bit.

"...It wasn't easy, the job. My team weren't what you'd call very useful-had to figure out most of it myself, some magical bridge, a devilish painting puzzle, and how to open a heavy sarcophagus. Even I was fooled by a puzzle with a pillar-treasure taunting me in plain sight! Of course, we also ran into a Giant Atrox...something like a spider...and it took the leg of our hunter...well, it bit her, and I took the leg to save her life. It wasn't pleasant...I'm glad it wasn't me, though. I'd prefer this old staff of mine remain a fashionable embellishment.

After that, I took my cut, and decided to find better partners. Namely you. I've others who might come, in time-other letters and other coins. Still, I haven't pursued a job yet until I knew who'd be coming with me. There's no shortage of coin in the world, my friend-we just have to be smart enough to get our hands on it."

"I see. And true, there is that." He had been working as an amateur carpenter just before he had gotten the call, and he was always been willing to do most any honest work. This was probably a bit more gray than honest, but he was fine with lending a hand to a friend. "I'll have your back, same as the time you needed a guide over the Frostspires. Did you ever finish that map, by the by?"

"The Road to Eshkaton? Ahh, still working on getting an intact copy of Magoyven's Travails to finish the second leg. Knowledge is difficult enough to find without people burning it decades before I was even born.

How's your family, by and by?"

Logan laughed, his tone a mix of bitter and wistful. "Still sending money home, Anna still hasn't forgiven me for not coming home to see our daughter. Says she named her Dana. She's also not happy that the boys are turning out like me. John's almost twelve now, Eric's eight. Dana'll be two in a few months I think." He scratched his beard idly.

"Well, you know what it's like where I'm from. A man's gotta feed his family somehow. It's more important that they're eating and staying out of trouble than it is for me to be there, taking up space." He took a drink. "What about yours?"
