Better. One more little addition to the ecosystem perhaps and then we'll move on.

Create the Malakim, gargantuan mechanical demigods  capable of using magic. Varying in form, their forms can vary from humanoid to resembling an arthropod. Every Malak is charged with protecting a large region of Flow, ensuring the ecosystem remains stable. Djinn and any other sapients are tolerated by the Malakim unless they cause too much damage to the region. Malakim roam their assigned regions and will rarely if ever leave them. Malakim cannot reproduce.  Each are powered by a combination of magic and sunlight. [Tiny] [Rare]

Also check up on how the Djinn populations and Elders are faring.

Two 20's in a row? What is RNG doing for realsies right now?

Check the technological level of the Verna. +2 to Power and Size

Discreetly spy on the new god of darkness and distruction. Try to dicern any mind patterns or something that can make it more predictable.

Turn 6: Center of Attention

...well fuck. Turn being edited in. Alerama, I'd appreciate it if you'd either "fix" Ark, give Flow a orbit around a star or suckerpunch this cat-thing. Two Crits in a row, you crazy Pencil-Art.

*****

With the appearance of the unknown being, Planner suddenly stops his inspection of Flow, transforming into a motionless knot of racing thoughts. Trains of thought derailed, nonsensical rings reaching the same dead ends over and over again, until something snaps.

Planner screeches with frustration. No! No! A complete blindside! Totally unpredicted appearance of catlike being! Unacceptable! Unacceptable! His previous unmoving stasis seems a illusion as he writhes with fury, a large dose confusion and a quickly forged determination.

Slowly he begins stalking closer to this... cat thing, flesh and carapace growing transparent, mind filled with the need to control it. Slowly his thoughts took shape, old plans changed to deal with the new variable, planned creations altered to tackle a new problem. The void around him bubbling, as new creatures, new weapons were made to enforce his will.

Create the Voidspawn, in the black void, winged spider pack hunters. Apex predators, they are designed to hunt down and capture the cat-thing in their webs of void-silk, threads humming with power that would think to catch a god. Entrap her, weaken her with virulent poisons and if necessary destroy her. Whether chasing her down in great leaping-flying-gallops, jumping from ambush or setting vast webbed traps. Their great powers, when used together, may be just enough to capture her. Or perhaps not. Her full capabilities are unknown, this is as much a test as anything. Perhaps it would not be wise to take such a antagonistic stance but the Planner is unsettled, not thinking quite clearly. The Voidspawn are opportunistic enough to supplement their diet with the occasional Glorious, Whisperwing or other spaceborne creature if one happens to be nearby. -2 Size +2 Power.

((In character note that I couldn't work out how to fit in, the Voidspawn are an existing plan that Planner has modified. Originally they were to be sedentary predators building massive webs over the Dark Star but the appearance of the cat-thing has forced him to change them to a more active role. He couldn't come up with something else in the heat of the moment and was forced to adapt an existing plan as best he could, which isn't very well since he doesn't deal well with unexpected surprises. Otherwise I'd have made them dragonflies or something. Maybe have dropped the antagonism a notch and just made invisible watchers, who wait for a moment of weakness to consume her, or feed off her life energy gradually to become stronger, strong enough to eventually control her. Ooh, modified sorcquitoes would have had potential in that role))
[2, Malus] The Voidspawn turn out absolutely ravenous... far too ravenous. They immediately begin hunting for deities or other sources of divine power, and aren't above turning on each other in a pinch.

Voidspawn created

"Funny! Alerama liked the changes  she brought to the Ark. She enjoyed how whole regions on the Ark started to change from green to white. "How will the other toy change if I'll bring it here?"

Move Flow to Ark forming a binary planet. Place Flow closer to Dark Star than Ark is now. While rotating around the shared centre of mass both planets should slightly change their distance to the Dark Star.

I hope I'll get no nat 1 to smash both planets together :D
[7, Poor] You move Flow to Ark, forming a binary system, but fail to move the duo closer or include any difference in how far they wander. Flow, oddly, gets colder, especially at the mountain tops and at night.

Flow moved to Ark

Observe the Interaction between godborn and Cathedral Cores. Check if there's enough space between the mushroom and the plant shell of the Cathedral Cores to build villages in between.

Contact the new entity. Show her visions of night becoming day, torches being lit in the darkness and swords shattering when coming in contact with shields seemingly made out of light.

"Opposite. Worrying."
[18, Bonus] You overwhelm the shadow-thing with brilliant visions of the glories of light and determination. It shrieks and dart into the Kuron.

Cat-thing made to know fear
+1 XP

There is very rarely enough room within a cathedral core for a full village. Depending on the core and the village, it's not impossible, but making a habit out of it might require some definite adjustments.

Ol'kuur sees the Natarki, their sensitivity, their psionicity. They were good. The scarabs wouldn't disrupt the Caves. That was good. The childlike abomination seemed careless, liable to destroy. That was worrying. As Ol'kuur ponders this in his ten heads, something strange happens. A creature, or entity, emerges from the Kuron, an entity different from the gods and their children, and one not created by them. Ol'kuur decides to communicate and investigate from some distance. "Emergent of the Kuron. You are noncreation yet exist. What is your nature?"

Suspiciously attempt communication with the catgirl deity-thing, maintaining distance.

If nothing too untowards happens to Ol'kuur, he retreats to the Kuron and creates the Whisperwings, creatures capable of surviving the void between worlds. They are colorful wisps forming a pair of wings, mostly deriving sustenance from the light of the suns, but can also absorb inanimate matter. Properly domesticated, they can carry a single creature safely through the void to other worlds. They are, however, rare creatures [-1 size].

"All things must pass," its whispers echo up at you from the Kuron. It sounds afraid.

[8, Poor] Your Whisperwings come out a little more transparent and less colorful than you might have liked, but they can still carry a passenger.

Whisperwings created

Also check up on how the Djinn populations and Elders are faring.
[13, Good] Your mechanical guardians come out a little noisier and brighter than intended, but that adds to their imposing visages.

The Djinn are not handling the cold well, but otherwise persist reasonably comfortably. They are plagued by sorcerous mosquitoes, but usually not unduly, and their brutal blood feuds and elders feeding... well, that could be going better. The elders aren't handling the cold well either, but make do.

Neither population is fond of Herd Lobster Floods, for obvious reasons, and have varying levels of success in repulsing or destroying them. Djinn tend to have the most success by banding together and defending their villages like fortresses, while Elders usually attempt to burrow into the sand to escape the wretched things- the lobsters are willing to dig after them, but lack the attention spans to be truly persistent at it.

Check the technological level of the Verna. +2 to Power and Size

Discreetly spy on the new god of darkness and distruction. Try to dicern any mind patterns or something that can make it more predictable.
((I don't understand what the +2 Power/Size is supposed to mean.))

[19, Bonus] You peer into the depths of the Kuron, and catch glimpses of the cat-thing flitting about.

The primary thing you notice about it is its attention to certain subjects- notably, living, moving things. It seems very interested in specific individuals as well, rather than simply things it hasn't seen before. You're not entirely certain of its mental state, but it seems likely that it'll be interested in poking around at individual animals or sapients in the future.

The Verna, as before, don't have much of a technological level to speak of. They are skilled at working metal into themselves and melding with each other, and can otherwise farm, fish, crudely build, and essentially run a primitive civilization at its most basic level. They are otherwise barbaric and ignorant, most of their works being inefficient, piecemeal affairs by beings that simply don't understand how to do any better. Only their knowledge of anatomy is noteworthy, but that has yet to manifest as any kind of proper technological advance.

Also, Pencil's luck is fucking godly. >_< EDIT: You seem to have forgotten to invest Pencil's xp into the Verna?

Planner skitters in winding loops, working off his frustration, before calming down. Then he begins carving away at the hunger of the Voidspawn, honing it down into a focused edge of killing power, refining their forms along with it, all aimed at a single goal, aimed at the cat-thing. They were made with a purpose, and they would fulfill it!

I seem to not have made this clear, but XP can only be spent on the initial creation process, not applied to them retroactively. You may, however, spend XP empowering attempted alterations. Technological advancement is generally handled by giving them specific technologies, not just sort of making them generically more advanced.

Yes, I think that's enough. Time to get a bit closer with these children.

She had already embraced the form of a Djinn, now she would descend even farther into mortality. She took on the appearance of a young Djinn garbed in the desert robes of an Elder.

Shevel had failed in making perfect creations but she would have to make do with what was available. It was too late to change the nature of the Elders or Illuminators. No, Shevel would simply have to use their weaknesses for the Greater Good. She would spend many many years in communication with Elders and Illuminator alike, speaking of how self-control and order could greaten the prospects of all Djinn...especially those who ruled over them. She hoped, that one day, they would see the Greatness behind her speeches and Know what the true purpose of the Djinn was.

...

Shevel looked beyond the cold skies of Flow and noticed her fellow deities dealing with the Child of Kuron. She wondered if this creature would affect her plans.

I would hope you lot are dealing with the problem admirably?

Unmantle into a Patron. Cultivate the first proper Djinn civilisation. It has successfully integrated Elders, Illuminators and normal Djinn. It venerates order and hierarchy above all else, placing Elders at top, Illuminators in the middle and normal Djinn at the bottom. Within this social pyramid are the Houses, bloodlines showing relation to a particular Elder. Houses are the ruling groups of Djinn society and are often places of great games of intrigue. Being associated with a House gives protection towards Elder feasts; those who do are not part of a House can be devoured without warning. Houses can vary in prestige depending on age of their Elder, if he is active and if he is not a hermit [i.e, more respect towards communal Elders]. The death of the Elder results in the dissolution of the House.

Gain [Order].

What are the use of spheres then exactly again? Do they determine whether you're allowed to spend xp on alterations? And that was unclear yes.

Also, Pencil seemed to be wanting to invest the xp into the Verna directly, like for example how I invested into the Shards or Micelus invested into the Djinn, rather than investing it into some nebulous general technological advancement, with the the preface simply being a order to examine the technology of the Verna. Would such still be disallowed?

Adittionaly, how would investment of xp into specific technologies work exactly? I'm a bit confused about the potential benefits it could grant, since the op rules mainly deal with how it effects creatures. Continuing that line of thought, how would are celestial bodies effected by the different power levels?

EDIT: And when unmantling to patron and forming a civilization, how would tweaking size and power levels effect the civilization exactly?

Fear... Fear... Alerama felt how new beings starve for her life essence and for the first time in her life she forgot about playing with toys. All her thought was focused on this new feeling. She needs protection, she needs a safe playground, playground she will create for herself.

Unmantle to create a giant transparent sphere around Ark and Flow. It should act as a barrier against anything but light and heat. Ideally it should make space inside it little warmer

Ol'kuur contorts his body in what might be an uncomfortable shrug if he had about fifteen shoulders less. The Emergent had not truly answered him and had fled away back into the Kuron. His whisperwings had come out lackluster. Some inner voice tells him to stay away for the Emergent, but it had come out of his world, and unlike the death scarabs, he had not noticed its creation. Secrets lie beneath the Kuron, and who else should know them but the spirit of caverns and his children?

Map out the realms and caves of the Kuron. If possible, insert that knowledge in the Natarki.

...wait a second. There's no way for the heat to get out once it's absorbed...

It's gonna act like some sort of runaway greenhouse effect until everything vaporises.

Why not just make it a transparent crystal globe that blocks out everything except except heat and light?

Unmantle to create a giant sphere around Ark and Flow. It should act as a barrier against anything including visible light, but it lets infrared and ultraviolet light to move through. Furthermore it absorbs visible light from and redistribute it evenly inside the sphere. The sphere should be absolutely black on the outside and glow with a soft white light from the inside
Mmm, I think this is still flawed by don't have a sufficient knowledge of light to say for sure, so since this isn't a physics simulation that should be fine I guess. Initially I thought it'd keep getting brighter and brighter until everything was blindingly bright and no one could see anything again, but I think light changes in frequency enough when interacting stuff that the visible light can get out again somewhat.

I would still have preferred a transparent sphere though.
