Sounds like that one fanfic where Goku has a Super Saiyan battle with Hitler.

What's the difference between the phase and just thinking fantasy creatures are kinda cool in general?

The phase is when you buy 3 books relating to said creatures and create half-dragon OC Mary Sues.

Well, I got those books for christmas one year, also pirateology. And I've always loved looking through monster manuals/bestiaries/fantasy encyclopedia things. But guess I never really had that sort of phase.

Now I'm tempted to go around asking people about their whatever-creature phase, to see if it's just common knowledge and I've somehow missed hearing about it.

Pirateology was neat, yeah.
Lets not turn this into a discussion thread for the 'ology books, though.

We merge into Batman Prime, get Kryptonite and punch him in the face.

I should have known!
Oh, yeah, is an irrational hatred of human contact coupled with an intense desire to find true love just a phase too?

Could be, does the intensity vary from instance to instance?

Less a phase and more a stage.

Not really any instances, just a kind of morose feeling.

You'll probably get over that, or turn into Edgar Allen Poe.
