Overtly dark thoughts
« on: April 27, 2015, 04:21:19 pm »

Right, not to beat about the bush, lately I've been thinking of, writing about, heck, even dreaming about, things that are of a less-than-pleasant nature. Voluntarily. Of course, I'm in my early teens: it's probably just a phase, like the myriad whiny 'emo' kids on Facebook. The only reason I'm asking about this is because I wrote a short story and felt very pleased with it, then the next day took one look at it and deleted it from my laptop. It would make good creepypasta material, except it wasn't really written thus. This shook me up quite a bit, and I've tried to rationalise it.
To be concise, is this normal? In all other aspects of life I'm perfectly happy, and life is great. I just seem to have suddenly unlocked a great capacity for horrible things.

Sounds fairly normal, even healthy in that you are actually externalizing it in a non-destructive manner.  My response to those urges was to beat drug-dealers and anyone else who even slightly irritated me into the concrete.  It might help to accept the basic fact that humans are hunters, and generally insanely violent at the drop of a hat, the majority just does a good job of 'not doing it'.  Really, it's not even anything to get worried about, unless you start feeling extremely strong urges to follow through.

I remember that phase. It involved me making some really creepy art, stories, and coming up with a few mildly disturbing songs that sounded like childrens rhymes.

Ah, good. Just another phase.
I wonder why children my age go through phases.

Hormones and presumably genetics.

I have to ask tho, have you gone through your dragon phase yet? Or was it a wolf phase? Or a gryphon one?

Dragon phase was back when I was what, 9?
Half-dragon OC with a Japanese name before I even used the internet much. I still need to properly draw the guy. He had a metal fist. I'd just begun reading FMA, so that's probably why :P
But yeah, I was pretty much obsessed with dragons for a couple years.

I went through a pink puffball phase.
Still haven't finished it.
Seriously though, like Kevak said, 's probably just a phase.
That, or signs of you eventually becoming a best-selling Horror writer. Take your pick.

What is this 'dragon phase' you refer too.  I am clearly a dragon, validated by independent assertions from each of my parents that they found me under a rock.

I skipped most phases and got hit by all of them at once.

Yes. The dragon phase especially. Much like Adragis, I created a half-dragon OC when I was younger.
Still own the Dragonology books, actually.

Ah, but did you also create two more OCs, one of whom was a career soldier and the other of whom was a trickster god incarnate?
I wish I'd kept my imagination.

Yeah...
Pretty interesting, though. Thought about an SG based on them at some point.

No. Instead, I created a guy who interviewed Hitler for shits and giggles at some point and...
Hm. That reminds me, really.
