((Otherwise, the only good drow I know is Drizzt, and I'm STILL pretty sure he'll kill everything. All others are Player Characters trying to become him, enough that the only drow you run into are his wannabe clones :P ))

((Well, Jarlaxle chaotic neutral, right? :P

Also, Carrics turn is up...better lethally assault these fairly reasonable and professional Drow warriors who don't harm innocent people...))

((No idea what that means honestly. And if only he had the axe I made in my other campai- oh wait, Drow aren't fey...))

((They still would run and hide out until they could return. Drow aren't like Kobolds who die all the time. They're also not as cowardly like Goblins that GTFO when you kill their leader, but they know when they need to run.))

((yes but if you were put on a suicide run and you succeeded you would relax, for a bit. and clearly their job isn't done, and why would they run if they thought the portal would be up soon. It should have been but Mary kind of ported over her self, bite the ungodly old elf wizard killing him and porting out of their))
((They're outnumbered, they have god only knows how many archers gunning them, plus a paladin who (I hope shes trained in it) is very intimidating and a frail, but very effective cleric. PLUS their target can not only make illusions of herself, but is a were-spider.

Failure is inevitable, and its either death by teeth or failure by whatever hired them (and maybe death). But since its hopeless, I'd GTFO if I were them, suicide or not. Maybe they could try another day when, you know, not everyone is surrounding the target.

*totally trying to rush the end of the encounter because my guy is still having nightmares*))

((well, this is how I ma playing them. And it wasn't an illusions, he ported to the realm of Lolth And yeah Cheese should post today. Also the reason they arn't running because i don't know if people still get the experience when a guy runs away. Sorry if the game gets slow some times. ))

((Sorry, I wasn't able to get on the computer yesterday. I'm back now.))

Swear loudly in Elvish, then shoot whichever Drow Calista shanked.

"In the name of Halmyr, I order you to toss down your arms and surrender!"

Action: Order them to surrender. Otherwise, slashy slashy.

Drow 1 and Drow 6 Share a look and Drow 5 whimpers.

Mary says in  strange voice "Why spare them? They were sent here to kill me or die. Why let them live? they can't go back home for their cowardice and there is no way back currently. Let me eat them, I bet they would taste good, and Lolth would get a right laugh out of it."

((time for some Rp, try and convince the drow spider bard to not kill the drow if you really want the to surrender))
The drow do lower their weapons but don't put them away.

Calista frowns.

"....I cannot slay an sentient who has fairly surrendered his weapons and ceased armed hostility, under the accords of lawful combat. That would be base murder, not justice, anathema to Halmyr's teachings. We should deliver them to the local magistrate, and allow the courts to decide their punishment. They have done little damage-I suspect many of them will be able to suffer reduced sentences if they comply with the authorities.

That being said, once an offer of surrender has been allowed, and denied..."
she turned to the look to the Drow with a wrathful glare. "....merciful conduct is no longer guaranteed from the victor, by any law. Choose wisely!"

Carric was at a loss for words at the moment.
He didn't really care for the lives of the drow, whichever direction that went, and he wasn't really keen on caring about the law. Or even staying educated on the subject, for that matter.

But the idea of eating people just because it would amuse you is just...

Carric lowered his crossbow.

"Why were they sent to kill you? If anything, they seem to be acting more reasonable here. They've lowered their weapons, and you're still wanting to kill them. Revenge doesn't serve any purpose. Hell, maybe by letting them live, you won't have people trying to kill you anymore."

Mary starts to scream oh what sounded like pain. She start scurrying backwards.
During this your holy symbol is glowing brightly. After a minute Mary walks over to you looking normal.

By now the drow has put away their weapons and sitting on the ground.

Mary says "Thanks, I wouldn't have been happy with my self if I ate them. I can say with out a doubt, Lolth is a pain in my side."  She then winces in pain holding her side.

She start conversing with the drow in undercommon. Marry has remade her halo of light

Mary turn to face you and says "It seem these guys angered some one in power and this was the punishment. They didn't expect to live or be asked to surrender. their job was to kill me, Like ever one that comes out of that teleportation circle. But I want thinking, I need some companions slash workers to keep me company and to help out. I think their punishment is being under my command. No that bad but still, they can't really go home specially since i kind of kill slash maned the spell caster that was making the portal. How does that sound to you?"

((i will get back to you on the xp you earned. First i need to figure out if when an enemy surrenders do you still get the xp as if you killed him?))

Spoiler: Carric (click to show/hide)

"Ah, please forgive my action in that form. You see I am not a usual drow, i am kind, caring and happy. But occasionally Lolth will port people to her world and put them through a trial for fun or to show her power over people. If you fail you become a Dridar, to show your shame that you failed. I was brought there and I didn't fail but I have always hated Lolth and when I won her trial she got great enjoyment you of it. So she blessed me with her power and the ability to turn into a spider. The draw back is the more I use her power the more corrupt I become till, i am her puppet. The people from my city I am from saw this as a betrayal but blamed me not Lolth. So that is why people keep coming to kill me."

((Yeah. Not all characters, like mine, will slaughter everything in sight. Surrender should grant XP, but it's up to you.))

"...yes, the Queen of the Demon-Web is not someone to be trifled with...I'm sorry, but you'll have to discuss the matter with the law. I aim to see them brought in, then you may convince the authorities to release them to your care.

In any case, I believe my task here is all but complete. I will wish you a good night, and...up, prisoners. We're off to the see the magistrate...let's hope he doesn't mind being woken up at this hour...don't try anything funny. I may be drunk but I'm rapidly sobering into annoyance."

Action: Escort the Drow to prison, and go back to the inn. Time for rest.

((If you didn't get xp for having them surrender, that would be pretty dumb, since it would discourage people from actually playing to their character. It would encourage mindless violence, rather than, you know, playing an interesting character.

It's a roleplaying game, not a combat simulator.))

Assist in escorting the drow back, then also go back to the inn.

it doesn't take you long to get the into the prison since you were right beside it.
Mary accompanies you
Spoiler: Carric (click to show/hide)

The archers take care of the Drow and takes the items they had on them.

Calista heads to the inn, but

for some reason Carric stops moving before he leaves the square. (fight this mysterous force pushing you or listen to it?)
Mary begins singing a song in undercommon.
