what happens if i kill all demons in hfs? or are  they  infinite? ???

they are effectively infinite, they will keep spawning over time, but nothing will be as tough as the huge mass that first spawns when you breach the hfs

They are like ants. There is no end in sight. That said, they stop charging you if you kill them all and they start appearing from map edges. Those ones are happen to watch your fortress collapse from within from afar.

I think they are infinite, but they may have a population similar to how fish can go extinct over time, except the population has a larger base to work with. Not sure, though.

Their numbers are reported as "uncountable" - something that's usually only reserved for insects. I don't think it's ever been confirmed if that actually means infinite or not.

As demons are sentient, they are not very useful despite their infinite amount.
