Dwarmin: What do you think would be an understandable age range for a person raised in a monastery as a monk with the purpose of slaying monsters to be sent out into the world to fulfill his duty?

Yeah, let's say D&D adulthood is like, 18 years old. That's the earliest you'd be sent out by yourself-likely without a good deal of formal training that would take you to let's say, 23 to be done with. Some really specialized training might require you to undergo education until you're 30+, but after that they begin to wonder when you're going to leave.

Done in human years, of course.

I think I'll have my character be 20. The training is fairly extensive (monk) but it was also begun at a very young age. I mean, typically, fighters would be expected to start their training around adolescence (12 years old), whereas monks would start a lot younger (6-7 years old.)

Just as long as there are plenty of young people for Ker, at the grizzled old age of 38, to talk down to.  :P

My character is likely to be operating solo, mind you. Admittedly he may appreciate the aid of a skilled tracker, though he should be reasonably good at that himself.

Must... Resist... Temptation... Must not make Monastic Order's traditional robes Organization XIII based...

Figured I should publicly post my sheet.

Dwarmin, my background gives me a lot of stuff that I already have from my equipment pack. Can I exchange it for other gear of equal value? Nevermind, I'll just sell it when we begin.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Top right hand corner, on the black bar. Or you could just hit enter.
