Silence?

A moth ate a word. To me it seemed, A marvelous thing when I learned the wonder
That a worm had swallowed, in darkness stolen, The song of man, his glorious sayings,
A great man's strength; and the thieving guest, Was no whit the wiser for the words it ate.

If I remember right, this is a Saxon riddle.

Ooh, I know that one. Not gonna say what it is, though.

That's not really a riddle, it's not asking a question. But I think I know what's going on: A moth is eating an ancient book containing tales of previous epic deeds.

See the painting
Now don't
I'll take all your tapestries,
Your drawings,
Your topiaries,
and all manner of artwork
Don't call me a thief
I'm not greedy,
just a victim of my own nature
I wish I could stop,
For I produce the materials for my destruction
What am I?

Entropy!

A good guess, but not quite the right one. Entropy doesn't create anything.

A Museum, of course! *facepalm*

I can run but not walk. Wherever I go, thought follows close behind. What am I?

First thing that comes to mind is a mouth.  But then again, I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about mouths.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

Correct!

If a man carried my burden,
He would break his back.
I am not rich,
But I leave silver in my track.
What am I?

A Snail.

Snails carry their homes, if we tried we'd be crushed.
Their slime glistens.
