And now for something completely different.

A club runs a weekly dancing competition, with a small cash prize.  After a few weeks, they are forced to ban a certain man from the competition, because he keeps winning.  Hearing about this, a friend of a friend e-mails him and asks if he wants to go out dancing some time.  He replies, truthfully, "No thanks, I can't dance a step."  How can this be?

Well, I've come up with several answers in a few short moments, but none of them are the one you're looking for.  I've thought of him being the man hosting the competition, a man betting on the competition, that the friend of a friend e-mailed the friend and not the dancer, that he has a dancing partner who basically wins it for him, and that he lost his legs in a car accident after his banning.

Yeah.  For the moment, I'm going to say that it's a guy betting on the competition.  I'll think a bit more on it later, it's a bit hard to think right now, the Dark Tower audio book is playing and I'm actually trying to listen to it.

All good tries, none the one I'm looking for.  He did participate, he did not break any rules, he won without help, it's not some semantic trick regarding the e-mail, and his health has not changed since.

He's the only one that shows up to the competition?

On mine, innoculations was correct.

As for the dance competition, I have no idea.

A man is lying on the ground, next to a pile of bricks and a bug on a book.  What happened?

Good guess, but no.  I'll leave this a bit longer and then reveal the answer if no-one gets it.

For the dancing competition its a line dancing competition not step dancing.

Not too sure on the brick one but I'm gonna guess constructed floor removal problems that landed next to the book keeper and the fort has no cats.

Actually, Beorn, you're the closest yet, but still not quite right.

A ring! Oh wait, I don't think that was a riddle.

About the dancing competition riddle, is the man disabled such that his dancing cannot involve steps, yet he still has the moves to win?

An old man wanted to leave all of his money to one of his three sons, but he didn't know which one he should give it to. He gave each of them a few coins and told them to buy something that would be able to fill their living room. The first man bought straw, but there was not enough to fill the room. The second bought some sticks, but they still did not fill the room. The third man bought two things that filled the room, so he obtained his father's fortune. What were the two things that the man bought?

Some compressed air and some sort of very large inflatable object?

Edit: Or maybe a bicycle pump or something instead of the air. It'd have to be inexpensive if the others were only buying straw and sticks. I'm probably wrong anyway.

Tayrin, you're also thinking along the right lines.  I'll reveal the answer in the morning if no-one has guessed by then.

I'm thinking you could fill the room with either a bottle of perfume or a sign that said "free beer", but I doubt they're the right answer somehow.

For the two things that filled the room - a candle and a match.
