Potato was indeed correct.  Very well done, I was hoping that one would last a little longer.

As for your riddle, the only thing that comes to mind at the moment is a batter's hand while he's adjusting himself.

Well, it did have me stumped at first, but it eventually came to me when I stopped to think about what has "eyes" that aren't used for seeing.

Hah... no, it isn't a batter's hand. There's no slang involved, and the thing that is used to bat with is what actually bats.

My guess of dwarf was a reference to shortness, yes, and was not serious.

With regard to the batting thing, could it be... an eyelash?
