Humanity is not a warlike race. Many human cultures are warlike but not all of them. Having humans is good for balance because so long as they do not become extinct or renounce the gods from being pissed on by them (no interfering means no accidentally pissing off), everything will be ok. Even if there were no practical reason, it wouldn't be any different in terms of balance compared to Arena (I'll remind that Arena is so warlike that the planet was named 'Arena') and it amuses my god to see what a race would be like without intervention.

Also. What is humanity currently doing? It's at one another's throats. There have been two massive globe spanning wars to date and likely a third is on its way.

Constant warfare has been the Epitome of humanity. Compared to the inhabitants of arena, where there has been relatively minimal warfare.

It most certainly is.

The era I'm talking about is post-WW2/Cold War. You know...right now. We are not all actively trying to kill each-other and a third world war is extremely unlikely. I really don't know what makes you think we're gonna have another one.

Constant warfare has not been the epitome of humanity - it's simply been our most recognisable trait. Trade is the epitome of humanity and there has been far more trade in the world than there ever was war. (Source: Crash Course History (a Youtube show)) Arena has entire races warring against each-other multiple times and has resulted in the near or total extinction of at least two.

One extinction was a god changing them all into angels. Another died off from evolution, and the third one, which was actually a near extinction was due to them being dicks as a ruling class and the populace revolting.

Dunno how Vayros invisioned it but I'm thinking its 1-part realistic chemistry and 1-part magic nonsense that only works because Vayros pumped essence into it.

If they found a Book and worship Vayros, yes. The magic part anyway The chemistry part could probably be discovered given enough time.
