Eras: A God Game [A Dark, Cold Ending]
« on: April 23, 2015, 08:05:24 pm »

In Eras, players take on the role of gods or divine spirits - first creating a world, then seeking dominion over its peoples, eventually leading their chosen folk to apotheosis - or to the stars.  The game takes place over (at least) three Eras, and players may consider each Era its own game to be won, although later Eras depend upon the actions of the earlier ones.

In the First Era, the powers that be forge the world(s) and the flora and fauna upon it.  This is the current Era.

The first five (or six, if I really like the apps) players to submit a deity application with a Name, Appearance and Personality (and Agenda if any) will be accepted.  Roleplay is encouraged.

Turns take place simultaneously, but no player can take more than three Actions in a Round.  Once you have done all your actions, post Turn Complete.  Once all players have completed their turns, a new round takes place.  Every player will start with 500 Mana, representing the Titanic powers of creation they possess.

Awesome.  Come up with a deity app and pick a sphere.

Name: The Jester
Appearance: Currently appears as a wild explosion of color shining from some inner point.
Personality: The Jester is a lover of all things beautiful and colorful, the more wild the shape and vibrant the color the better. It is a capricious creator who loves to see the things it creates live up to it's standards of beauty and wonder. However, it is also a Jealous god, who believes that the more that see a wonder, the less special that wonder is, after all, what can be wondrous when it is seen so often by so many? That is just the mundane! It believes that only it is worthy of seeing true beauty, and thus detests any who would look upon it's works and ruin them with their sight. To that end it detests the light most of all, since that allows visual masterpieces to be observed by even the lowest of beings!
Agenda: Currently none, as it wanders though the void. The urge to create strikes.
Sphere of Life: Crystal

Name: The World Tree
Appearance: A massive tree, from which the branches of evolution of all things spring from it's boughs.
Personality: The Tree cultivates his creations lovingly, and is not aggressive, as he respects  all life. However, if those rival creatures start competing with his, he rises from his slumber to put an end to conflict, one way or another.

He does not put up with any intrusions into his territory, and is known for being quick and decisive, though also very wise.
Agenda: Looking for a place to cultivate his creations in peace.
Sphere of life: Plants.

In and In.  We can start with four players if there's not too much initial interest as well.

Name: The Improver
Appearance: A snowflake that constantly changes shape and formation quick enough that it appears as a luminous sphere to most.
Personality: The Improver sees the world as a blank slate from which he would create the greatest form of art: life. His creations are his greatest possessions but they are just that, possessions. He sees them as valuable but disposable. The creations of others too are of interest to him; fellow artworks created by his peers. Sometime It thinks it could make them better, improve them. When he sees this, he of course does without consulting his fellow artists. The Improver is patient and careful but swift to act when the time comes. He acts like a father to his lessers and a friend to his equals. When however he needs to dispose or combat those mentioned, he is quick to put aside pleasantries and either destroy them outright, turn them to his side or weaken them. He sees no wrongness with this and would be insulted to know that others would think this rude.
Agenda: Refine lifeforms to such an extent that the ecosystem is 'perfect'.
Sphere of Life: Fungi

Name: The Mother
Appearance: A female being with red flowing hair. Details beyond that fluctuate from observer to observer, from a white furred mouse 2 inches long to a dark skin human 30 meters tall. An aura of safety is only other noted from this goddess.
Personality: A gentle being, the mother rarely seek competition. She creates her children and care not of their form so they can vary from beautiful to horrible nightmares worse then the (undead god or the Improver if none arise) can produce so long as they flourish. However, if her temper is arouses, the fool who did so will soon found out there no such thing as stop for the Mother's anger.
Agenda: To fill the world(s) with her children.
Sphere of Life: Animal

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

Name: Supreme Radiant
Appearance: A pulsating orb of light, like the sun in miniature
Personality: Has an inferiority complex due to being outshined by the sun, compensating by claiming to be the one true sun, and superior in every way to that other, crappy, sun. As such it has a burning need to prove itself, and make others acknowledge its supremacy
Agenda: Get rid of crappy knockoff sun, become ultimate sun, get others to acknowledge greatness.
Sphere: Fire

Why don't fungi require air? Currently fungi appears to be a completely superior version of the animal sphere? Everything is the same except it doesn't require air like animals do.

GM said he might accept a sixth player if the application is good enough so there's no harm in trying?

Name: The Mother
Appearance: A female being with red flowing hair. Details beyond that fluctuate from observer to observer, from a white furred mouse 2 inches long to a dark skin human 30 meters tall. An aura of safety is only other noted from this goddess.
Colour contradiction?

Nah, it my god's version of a halo. The mouse would simply have a red 'mane' of sorts and the rest would be white.

Make an app anyway, Gig.  I may go to six players.  Also, legitimate balance point there, Spoon.  I'm going to alter Fungi to require Earth (because we already have three Air requirement spheres).

In the vastness of space, a star is born.  The light that heralds its birth calls to sleeping, ancient forms across the cosmos, and each one drifts towards this shining new sun.  The lens of time narrows from the billions to the mere hundred millions as five distinct forms coalesce into awareness and being, each having soaked up the brilliance of the star's efflugia, rich with the stuff of creation.

One blooms into a brilliant, beautiful explosion of multicoloured light.  One hardens into the form of a seed, ready to take root.  One becomes an erratic, shifting lattice of light and ice.  One takes the form of a welcoming creature with white fur across its body and red, flowing hair.  One settles on the form of a pulsing orb of light, like the star in miniature.

The void beckons, creation ready to accept a shape.
