Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

((Dang, are we still in cat form? This... might be hard to get out of.))

(I might update tonight. Maybe. Though getting anything done will probably require more than poking about the cabin. Though as a hint, looking for something specific in an SG when the GM hasn't thought of it might get unexpected results, since not everything is set in stone.)

Explore around the outside of the house but don't stray to far from it.

While outside look for any magical looking things if you don't find anything magical outside then look for more magical stuff inside?

((Well magic stuff is the only interesting thing I could think of.))

You step outside, feeling rather uncomfortable at the wet ground beneath your feet, though the cold air is nice. The only sound is the dripping from the roof and the breeze in the treetops. You honestly have no idea what to do, but as you haven't yet, but you feel to anxious to keep sitting around the cabin any longer. Slowly, as the ground feels so weird, you walk around the cabin to check things out. There doesn't seem to be any magic lying around out here that you can detect, except that line you saw earlier with the pendant on: it seems to be about 10 of your length away from the cabin (so... around 11 feet maybe?) and becomes visible when you draw near it, glowing in that strange new color.

Around back, you find a shed built leaning against the cabin, probably for firewood, though you don't see any readily apparent way in at ground level. As you look closer, you feel something, the hairs on your back standing up. You feel watched. Looking about, you see a pair of eyes staring out from the darkness under the trees. They are coming closer...

You are now Greg, and you are beginning to have a very long night.

Elaborate on situation.
The cops have been questioning you for hours about your involvement with Emily Burke, and their inquiries are starting to go in circles. You've tried not to let them know much, but they seem to know that you're holding out, and have been growing hostile. Which is too bad, you've always got along well with this town. Well, you don't know anyone there too well, not spending much time around other people, but there's no enmity. It's one of those places where people take pride in minding their own business, which is partly why you live here.

You get the feeling that the police won't let you leave here any time soon, not until they're satisfied, but at the moment you're more anxious about Em than yourself. Worst case, you do have magic, after all. But she's left there all alone, and with a spell on her too.

"...are you sure you don't have any past connections with Emily Burke?" asks the officer with the moustache for the millionth time.

Sure, why not.  Also, what magic do we feel we can reliably perform right now?

You could do a Transport, since you didn't use it on Emily, and you could Transfigure something again relatively easily, though the risks for both spells you warned Emily about are still there. If you could get some time to yourself, you could prepare them correctly, and possibly some other cantrips. Which ones, would depend on how long. However, you're wary of relying on magic: you wizards' intuition tells you that doing anything to visible, public, or recordable would be bad idea. It's hard to explain... like, a gut feeling or something. But, if you needed to, you could do something.

"Yeeees! I'm suuuuure! You've asked me this fifty million times now!"
You're not one to get snappy, but this business is really trying your patience. You sigh. "Yes, I'm sure, for the like fifty-millionth time!"

"Well, that's interesting," replies the other officer, leaning in the doorway of the police station kitchen. He holds up a smart phone of some kind. "According to public records, you two went to the same high school, at the same time. Hmm, and were in some of the same clubs."

"Highschool?"
Frown, feigning difficulty in remembering.
"We never had anything to do with one another. And it's not like the clubs were small, I only ever spoke to about half the people there. So unless you count occasionally looking in the general direction of a classmate as a past connection, I'll just sit here and wait for you to ask that question again. Or, you can let me go home, and stop wasting everyone's time."

"Well, it's just that Miss Angeline, the person our suspect was staying with, and whose car she stole and totaled, mentioned that this Emily Burke was looking for an old friend out this way," says the cop with the phone. "Look, I know it's late and we've been at this for hours, but you'd really make all our lives easier if you wouldn't get that attitude."

Take a deep breath and agree to calm down, but continue to deny knowledge of Emily.
Lying does not seem to be getting us anywhere, but I'm still willing to stick to our guns.
