You slip out of the pendant's loop and cross the table back to the couch, where you press yourself into the corner and curl up. You don't really know what else to do, maybe it will help you think or something. As it happens, despite the worrying and the itching, you find it very easy to fall asleep...

You've had this thing hanging around for God knows how long, and it occurs that you never tried it on. Jewelry's not really your thing, but since you're going to hand it off soon anyway...

...Three men stand outside in the twilight. One of them white-haired, bearded. The owner of the spaghetti place? It's hard to see the other two clearly. But the old man and the man next to him seem to be ganging up on the other... You get a clear look at that man's face... the police are pulling him from the trunk.

"It's too much, man, you can't just control people like this!"
You open the door out back. "What's going on?" You call out.
One of the men hisses, "You said no one would be out here!" You can see more clearly now, up close. The mayor of this little place?
"Shhh." The old man... Silas, you think his name is... turns to you. "Hello, ah... Emily, was it?"
"What's going on out here?" you repeat.
"Ah, yes. Can I speak with you for a moment? Inside?"

...The needle in your arm...

...waking up with your face in the airbag, lying in the driver's seat of that car. The pain in your arm...

You wake up in a ball of warmth, surrounded by giant couch cushions, in a giant room full of giant things. It's completely silent: no more rain, but darkness still outside. The doormat is soaked, though, from the door being left open a crack when the policeman left.

You can see even further now, though it's still cloudy overhead. The cold night air stings your eyes and nose, and you notice a wide range of odors stirred up by the rain, though you're still not quite sure what to make of this sensory overload, when it smells like you have another nose on the roof of your mouth. Freaking weird. Somewhere, you can hear an owl calling, and you notice the distinct lack of helicopter that had been roaring off in the distance before.

(Gah, I'm stuck. I kind of know what I want to write but I just can't seem to write it. Though a bit more clarity would probably help.)

I like it. I didn't really have a picture of human us in my head but the cat is kinda close to what I imagined we looked like.
