Ask him about his apparently successful 'wizard' career.

(Time to get less linear)

"Ah, well, it's a thing I guess. Learned a lot, made more than just that pendant. I don't know what you've stumbled into, but it can't be good. Shit, Em, I'm really sorry about this. Somehow I feel like I'm to blame..." He walks over to the table and opens one of the books. "Em, they're not far away. We have maybe 10 minutes. I'd love to catch up some more, but I feel like I should try to help. Crap. Um. I don't know if I can hide you here. There's not many places and they'll probably search. But... maybe I could cast a spell? It'll be dangerous though..."

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

(Here's where the railroading ends.)

"Okay, okay. Um. We don't have much time to do this properly. And I feel like a dick for saying this, but I can't do anything that'll compromise me. So, um, I think we've only got two options with safety and casting time here:

Transportation. I could send you somewhere else. But I have no idea where. It could be, like, literally anywhere I think. Like, the bottom of the sea or the middle of the Sahara desert. Or in the middle of the county jail, I dunno.

Transfiguration. I could turn you into something or someone else. But that could have all kinds of problems, depending on what. Though it won't be random, unlike the other one.

So, uh, still both pretty dangerous. But doable."

Transfiguration? if we get to choose what we get turned into and no one has any suggestion i'll think of something.

(Note: Option 1, you can make suggestions on where Emily might wind up. Option 2, you'll have to make some more definite choices, though you still have some time to question Gregor.)

Ask Gregor what kind of problems could happen from Transfiguration.

Transfiguration seems more reliable. At least, it has less chance of instantly killing us, even though I suppose OOC-wise it's unlikely we'll die.

Ask Gregor what kind of problems could happen from Transfiguration.
"It really depends on what. Like, if I turned you into another person, you'd probably lose your memories, possibly until you could get turned back. Plus, I can't give you new clothes, so the cops might still give you trouble. If I made you an inanimate object, you'd remember, but, like you wouldn't be able to do anything. Except maybe psychic stuff or something, if you had an enchantment. You'd probably keep your memories if I made you an animal, but you might be stuck having to survive like that for a while. And in any case, you'll probably need me to change back."

Ask Gregor why he can't just turn us into a piece of furniture or whatever in his house until the police go away

"I totally could, but what if the cops take me in for questioning?"

"Actually, transportation seems more favorable. Imploding in the Marianas Trench is still better than being a chair for the rest of my life if things go wrong."
