XCOM Test IC Thread: Operation Hammer Down

Note: post non-IC content at this thread.
The helicopter had set down heavily. The farmhouse was dark, no lights or life visible from the air. The team of Hammer One braced against the backdraft as it launched again. Something scuttled out of sight.
 
The six soldiers breathed in the brisk night air and looked around cautiously. Command crackled in over the radio.
 
"We have zero knowledge on contacts, expect hostile. Armaments and capabilities unknown. Be careful, hammer one."
 
They were on their own.

The operatives carefully moved in towards the farmhouse. The night air was still and cold: only the chirping of insects and the operatives' own footfalls could be heard. Suddenly, a faint chittering snickered through the dark. For a heartbeat, all was quiet before the insects began their songs again.

Something was out there. Close.
