JPG does in fact mess up stuff, and it is a bad format to use for anything including outdoor photographs which it was meant to be good at.

But that is not the secret.

When Link is just standing there you don't see a sword. You just see his shield. And it isn't his hair ... maybe I should be more precise about my hint ...

HINT: This is an unedited screencap of an unmodified game. Any tiny pixel-based or color-based shifts aren't the secret, they're just crummy JPG compression. Someone earlier was on the right track though.

Actually, It's probably an in-game secret. I would have thought I would know,  but it's been a while since I've played this game.
