Are you saying there was no battle because you didn't see a battle, or because Legends doesn't detail the participants, number of kills, the actual location the battle took place, etc.

I don't think it's a bug, world events haven't been implemented in real time for adventurer mode. So these battles will always happen at the start of the month, always offscreen, and win or lose the surviving attackers will remain just off the border of the site.
Both. I saw no battle, and the legends reported an attack, but didn't report any battle at that location.
Edit: Im just gonna leave it be and let it sort itself out at this point.

That "Army of crundles" thing happened in another save by the way. My thought is that all underworld creatures are teleporting to the surface. Save crocodiles, giant rats, a reacher, and magma crabs came with the crundles this time.

Have a theory about the recruit thing to. At first none of them were hostile. They were normal creatures. The second they became enemies, they all were set as recruits like the game put them in the military or something.

Ahem:

You know how it says "the bodies of soandso were impaled on wooden spikes" after a town is sacked?

Yeah, that actually happens.

Recruit just means they lack combat skills, it's why you see soandso wrestler and such sometimes.

Yeah but the game shouldnt be doing that with wild animals. Thats just my theory as to why its doing it with some.

Oh, I didn't see the army of crundles post (had this in a tab I guess) I was referring to the battles being listed/displaying.

I can say for sure that when the game records group x attacking site y that it is happening, I've encountered and taken part in numerous skirmishes and wars now that I got the hang of finding them.

The underground creatures teleporting to the surface and gaining recruit tags yeah, they're not in their native site and they're roaming so you get that sometimes when you unretire sites and then visit them as an adventurer.

There was no retiring or unretiring involved.
