Q. Whoa! Lots of buttons and stuff. What do I do?A. Begin training shadow clones from the 'Build' screen under 'Create.' Assign clones to train from 'Train' screen under 'Physical' and 'Mystic.' Eventually you'll want to assign clones to fighting monsters and building monuments, but that won't come until later.
Q. What do the stats do and how do I increase them?A. The primary four stats are Physical, Mystic, Battle and Creation. Physical increases your hp by a lot and your damage by a little. Mystic increases your regeneration rate. Battle increases your damage. During the early game, Battle stat is hard to get very much of. By middle to late game the vast majority of your damage will come from it. Creation primarily affects the rate at which you can produce clones and the creations you'll eventually unlock, and also gives a small hp boost. Physical and Mystic are both increased by assigning shadow clones to train these stats. Note that every 500 points of training will unlock a new activity that clones can train on. Battle is increased by defeating monsters. Creation is increased by making creations, including shadow clones. All four of these stats may also be increased by multipliers that are derived from a number of sources, some of which are not available at game start.
Q. Wait, I can LOSE stuff by rebirthing? What's with the green and red? How does this rebirth thing work?A. Rebirthing in idling to rule the gods follows a slightly different than the usual mechanic. Each of your four primary stats can be increased both directly by training/using them, and increased by earning multipliers to those base values from doing various things. Multipliers that increase your
current game and multipliers that increase your game
after the next rebirth are computed separately. If you click the 'Rebirth' tab you'll see current values on the left and "after rebirth" values on the right. These are increased in a number of ways, but in the early game your primary source of multipliers will be achievements. Check either the train or fight tabs and click the weird looking red symbol in the upper right.
After you rebirth all your "current" training values will reset, your "after rebirth" multis will become current, and your after rebirth multis will reset to zero. If any of your four stats show on the rebirth page in red, that means that you haven't yet caught up to the point where your multipliers will be better after a rebirth, meaning if you rebirth early, your attributes will be
lowerthan they were at the same point in training on the previous rebirth. In general, that's bad. There are some legitimate reasons to do this, but in the early to middle game "don't rebirth until you see all green" is a safeish guideline.
Q. How do god multi and stat multi work? When people say 'multi' which one are they talking about?A. When people say "multi" they're usually referring to the
stat multiThe value of this multiplier is determined by a lot of factors. Check the "other" panel for a complete list. Your god multi is a simple muliplicative 2x for each god you've killed in the current rebirth. Both are applied as global multipliers to all four of your base stats: physical, mystic, battle and creation. Stat multi can be increased without limit, whereas god multi requires you to able to kill higher level gods. But stat multi is capped by god multi. Yes, you can idle away for days, but training and monuments provide only linear increases, whereas killing the next higher god will double all your stats on the next rebirth and if your stat multi is capped, that will double it again. However, killing that next god is sometimes difficult if your stat multi is relatively low. For this reason (also because of GP accumulation) it's generally recommended that you don't go out of your way to kill multiple higher gods on a single rebirth. One new god per rebirth is a good target through the early part of the game, and by middle game you may need multiple rebirths per new god. The balance between god and stat multis and which is holding you back can change multiple times over the lifetime of the game, and depending on playstyle. In general, rebirthing often (once you're all green) is a safer strategy than idling longer to beat "just one more" god, as it will result in fewer stat multi problems and more GP.
Q. What are creations? What's the point of light and stone and all these creations I can't do anything with? Where are monuments? What's the divinity generator? What's the deal with this planet? Where are ultimate beings? Why can't I build anything?A. At the start of a rebirth you're only able to make shadow clones. Every god you kill unlocks a new creation. Eventually these will be used to build monuments and planets and things, but the first monument isn't unlocked until you've defeated Diana, and monument upgrades aren't unlocked until you've defeated Freya. For your first several rebirths, creations won't be useful for anything besides increasing your creation multi and unlocking avatar options. They do become important later. Be patient. The divinity generator is a way to convert creations into divinity which can be used to purchase creations at over unity rates. It is unlocked once you've built every base monument type. Your personal planet is made available by building and using a planet, and has upgrades all the way to to universe. Ultimate beings become available once you've upgraded your personal planet at least once. New unlocks and even new game mechanics continue to be unlocked all the way up to Tyrant Overlord Baal, with (as of this writing) one more unlock that doesn't occur until after all the "known" gods have been defeated.
Q. Why are the shadow clone requirements to train on the same activity changing? Why aren'tthey changing?A. Every three times you use (not train, but
use) an ability on the Mystic training list, the number of clones required to train that skill (and it's match on the physical training list) at maximum potential will decrease by 1. You can manually use skills via Fight --> Special --> Fight Gods, then clicking the ability in actual combat. Or, you can set them
all to auto train at a slower rate by turning auto on, on that same screen. It's best to keep it on auto whenever you're not doing something manually. These reductions are counted as done by you personally, so they don't train while you're offline. But it doesn't take very long to reduce the clone requirement on the first few skills to 1. To reduce
everything to takes something like 3-4 months.
Q. When do I unlock persistent upgrades?A. You'll receive 1 god point "GP" for each god you kill (including repeat kills on subsequent rebirths) starting with Izanagi. GP may be spent by clicking the little glowing crystal thing near the upper left of the screen. It will take several days of play to unlock these. GP are also one possible reward from killing ultimate beings. You won't unlock those for a long time.
Q. How should I spend my god points?A. There is not a consensus, but here are some guidelines:
1) Don't be in such a rush to spend your points that you waste them. For example, it's more efficient to buy a 35% speed increase for 10 GP than to buy a 2% increase for 1. Unspent GP can be temporarily assigned to give you a straight percent increase to any primary stat of your choice.
2) The generally accepted creation speed target is 245%. (Other factors being at reasonable levels) this will allow you to create shadow clones at the maximum possible rate. More will help you build other creations faster, but by middle to late game you won't be building nearly as many creations as you'll be simply purchasing with divinity. So going above 245% is not hugely useful.
3) The generally accepted build speed target is 770% or so. There's some complicated math behind that number and it's debatable, but unlike creation speed, going above the target will continue to help you, though be at increasingly diminishing returns. 775% is the point at which theoretically you get faster net build speed by spending your next GP purchase on increasing your clone cap rather than increasing your build speed. The actuality is a bit more complicated than that, but 700s is nevertheless a good target.
4) Relative priority of creation vs build speed is a contested point. Creation is more helpful early on. Build speed is more helpful later. But having faster creation speed gets you to the point where the build speed matters more, sooner. Don't neglect creation speed thinking you'll "save wasted points" in the long run.
5) While increasing creation speed reduces the amount of time needed per creation, creation count increases the number of creations created in that time. So the first purchase will double your effective speed. It is however, very expensive. Don't save up from day one to make this your first purchase, but once your clone cap has been increased enough, it's worthwhile to save up and buy this.
6) Don't worry about increasing your shadow clone hard cap until your soft cap reaches the base hard cap of 99999 clones. That might take a couple weeks of active play. Once you do reach the cap, juggle the balance between increasing your clone cap and increasing your build speed. 20000 clones at base speed build at the same rate as 10000 clones as +100% speed. Note that build speed
only affects monuments, whereas if you have more clones you can assign them to things that aren't affected by build speed like fighting monsters, skill training, fighting ultimate beings, etc. Having twice as many clones at half the build speed is arguably better than having half as many at twice the build speed. But increasing your cap is expensive, and you can increase it up to 99999 without spending GP.
7) Don't worry about TBS (The Baal Slayer) bonuses until you have a lot of GP to spare.
There are viable strategies that involve spending GP on the 'create 99999 shadow clones at once' option. But don't do it unless you know what you're doing.
9) Under no circumstances spend GP on Divinity. It's an anachronism from a previous version of the game. It is
vastly more efficient to fight gods on special mode.
10) There is not a strong consensus on good targets for unspent GP allocated to stat bonuses. My advice is to not be afraid of spending then, but don't make a point of spending them the moment you can. There are entirely valid reasons for having hundreds of unspent points, but don't hoard them if you'll receive more benefit from spending them.
Q. Why don't gains continue while offline?A. Some do, some don't. Your shadow clones will keep working for you while you're offline, but
you don't. So anything that is done by you personally rather than your clones (most notably creations and physical/mystical training efficiency increases) stops while offline, while things done by your clones (actual physical/mystical training, fighting monsters, etc.) continues while offline.
Q. How do I make my clones stronger?A. Clone strength is a fraction of your own personal strength. By increasing your own strength, your clones will improve also.Additionally, you can make the
fractionthat is used for that calculation more favorable by both creating and killing clones. This wil tend to happen through normal gameplay, but it's generally recommended that before every rebirth, assign all your clones to fight a monster that's to strong for them in order to kill them all. Clone deaths are a factor both in your clone cap, clone defense and hp, and well as contribute to your total multiplier. By killing them off before you'll lose them all anyway you can speed up the process. Mouse over your clones number in the upper left for their current clone stats and check the "other" panel" to see other stats.
