Hey, shameful admissions, not bragging.

Ye got my sympathies here, Stagnant.  I've only pierced an aquifer once, and it was due to magma helping on that case.

Aside from the magma piercing, I've not succeeded in beatin' the vile aquifer.

As for personal shameful admissions, I am a mite ashamed that I didn't get to combat elves, but the one thing I lately can't live down?  Managing an archer squad.  Every time I try to make them shoot, they merely ignore the fact and treat the crossbows as bludgeons.

Also of note is my extreme incompetence in adventurer mode (in general).

I've met people who say Roc and Dragon hatcheries or magma moats are harder than piercing an aquifer, but I've gone at them so many times, even followed instructional videos, and I just can't do it.

I actually once failed to pierce an aquifer with the help of magma. After digging into the cast obsidian it just filled up again.

I also always disable werebeasts. I like to build stuff and they are the single most annoying disruption in that regard.

I've only pierced an aquifer with the ice method.

I've tried the other methods, to little to no avail.

Really?  I've never failed to pierce an aquifer, and I only use double slit.  It just takes a bit of patience.

I pierce aquifers by just ordering my miner to go straight through one with up/down stairs until they hit the caverns. Dwarves can mine and walk faster than the water. :P

I too have never pierced an aquifer, always modded them out.

After all these years, minecarts are still a complete mystery to me. Have never once attempted to use them in any of my forts - it just never seems worth the effort.

I rarely make much use of the magma on my map. Hell, most of time I ignore its fiery potential entirely.

Outside of big towers, I've never completed a true mega project worthy of dwarven engineering standards.

... No water, no magma, no carts, no megaprojects... When you take all that out, what parts of the game are left?  Do you just train for sieges all day every day? (New version must really suck for you...)

Heh, I'm one of those guys that just likes watching the dwarves do their thing. Finding the little stories amid all the hustle and bustle, that sort of stuff.

Sieges and megabeast invasions have actually been pretty plentiful for me in my most recent fort, which is always a plus.

A pretty-looking fort is a mega-project, most times.
