Thank you.
How did I forget that...

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

They will be transferred if they survive and if you get enough XP to level up to Specialist (long war equivalent of squaddie) you will join promoted and properly classed.
There 2 separate statement there:
IF (survives)  THEN {is transferred}
IF (has enough XP)  THEN {gets promoted}

Noted. Also, question: Which of the living characters have the EXP to level up?

So only the one who through the Greatest Grenade of All Time.

*hopes that Adriana hits and kills the last visible sectoid*

...Wait, is it possible there might be one or two more, hiding in the UFO?

That might probably be possible.

Highly unlikely. You generally average out at 10 aliens for a single Abduction mission, but this isn't an Abduction. This is essentially a Small UFO Landing/Crash, and there's pretty much no way you could comfortably fit more than 6 Sectoids in a 3x3 space. There's only one Meld canister, too. I think, given the size of the map, 2 Pods (groups of aliens) should be all we have to deal with, here.

I could be wrong, of course. But we'll see. Y'know, though, I really freaking wish that helicopter would have stuck around for a bit to provide close air support. It never ceases to amaze me that the Skyranger never does that in XCOM, even when it's RIGHT FREAKING THERE and can fly WELL out of range of alien fire. What the hell is Big Sky doing while we're down there getting shot, anyway? Eating donuts? I mean, really.

At least have the Interceptors do it. An interceptor could have bombed that farmhouse, killing all or most of them at once.

Of course that would mean leaving very little in the way of corpses or weapon fragments to salvage. But meh.

I do have one question, game-related:  How do range bonuses/penalties work with Overwatch? If I'm within 3 tiles of a target, does the +18 range bonus apply before the Overwatch malus (60+18*0.7=54.2)? Or does it apply after Overwatch (60*0.7+18=60)?

Before, probably- all the other ones are.

Yes and no. It's theoretically possible to mount ground attack weapons on fighters, but we haven't done that. It's quite possible that Interceptors are not even good in that role (to put it bluntly they're not stable at subsonic speeds useful for ground attack.)

XCOM has the tech. Make a dedicated bomber. Or give the Skyranger some weapons!

It might also be a bad idea to have a strange plane strafe the countryside, although with all the terror missions the aliens do, I find the Secret War being a secret to be fairly implausible.  :-\

Overwatch multiplier is always applied at the very end.

... Well. You all missed your shots. Wow. Ok, he's Overwatching... you can all just go ahead and take your shots this turn and hope they hit, 'cause your Overwatch won't catch him unless he's flanked. I would recommend at least one of you save your shot, though -- if I run into the house, lean around the wall at F18 and use my pistol, I can probably end this right now. However, I'm gonna face-tank that Overwatch at close range. If I don't move, though, the Sectoid has a perfect shot at moving to F18 and flanking me. So I'm probably gonna do that anyway. It'll be up to whether or not you guys can hit him this turn.
