Haha no. Same as in the games, new weapons need to be built individually and cost resources. But at least items are made available so one person can't hog the only laser rifle between mission.

And same as in long war, squad size can increase with proper upgrades.

I hate to bring this up again (or for the first time, if this is the first time in your timeline we've met ;D) But is this 6-player game going to feature each of us taking turns, well, in turn? Turn-Based Simultaneous-Resolution is a harder system to run, but it does make games an order of magnitude faster (and, arguably, more realistic.)

You won't have a set order you have to take your turns in.

Naw, at least not individually. It works more like in FEF and the games, where in player turn you can move whoever first. Here in the player turn each of you can take whatever actions you feel and I'll process them in order, and when all actions are used it's ALIEN ACTIVITY TIME.

Only time I will stop actions from being processed is if it conflicts with a previous action or a previous action discovers something new/makes it void.

HEY EVERYONE WE SHOULD PRIORITIZE THESE

So, once we research a weapon, armor, or item, we have to pay to build it, but then anyone with the proper class and such has access to them?

Yes. For example, once a Scatter Laser (laser-based shotgun) is built, squaddie-level or higher Assaults, Medics, Scouts, Infantry, etc. can all select it as their primary weapon. Base-level specialist ballistic weapons (Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Sawed-off Shotgun, etc.) don't count; there are always an unlimited number of these, since you don't have to pay to have them built.

Trivia: The standard X-COM Assault Rifle is called the X-9 Rifle in the flavor text of a certain research project.

I have one more question:  If and when we level up, will we get to choose from any of the 8 classes (Infantry, Medic, Engineer, etc.), or will we be given a choice between two in a randomly-chosen genre (i.e Scout-Sniper)?

My original idea was that you get two choices from a random genre and if you don't like that you can roll a random subclass of the other genres but that has the problem that you already chose progressions probably with a class in mind.

So I thought either you get to pick your class unrestricted or you can reset your progressions to better fit the class you get.

I like the second one more.

Scatter Laser
Heh. "Scatter laser"(1) is, perhaps, the one application more absurd than "Laser rifle"(2).

[...] you can reset your progressions to better fit the class you get.

I like th [at one] one more.
That sounds fine by me, in fact progression seems meaningless to pick during char-generation, since it doesn't influence your charecter until level 2. (and this being an X-com, the chances of you ever getting there are nowhere close to 100%)

(1) The point of a LASER is that it focuses the electromagnetic energy into a tight beam.
(2) Gyro-stabilized photons (or would that be beams?) would fly neither further, nor straighter than normal ones.

A laser rifle is not using rifle as "has rifling". They are using it as "small arm held in two hands."
