Alright. I think I'll hold off on mine for now, at least until I know whether or not she's gonna become a squaddie.

Are our (surviving) characters going to transfer into the actual game once this is finished? And if they are, will they be squaddie-level?

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

They will be transferred if they survive and if you get enough XP to level up to Specialist (long war equivalent of squaddie) you will join promoted and properly classed.

How are movement and actions going to be handled? in X-COM, soldiers get to 'half-move' (or 'blue move') to a point, and then take an action. Is this going to be the same thing? Will that mean we have to post two actions -- one for movement, and another for what we do then if we see any aliens, for example?

Yes it will have the same mechanic of actions. Keep in mind the MOV listed in your sheet is for a blue move, so a dash can carry you double that MOV.

Also I've determined diagonals don't exist in this universe since pythagoric equations would be too complex at times.

Wait, you mean no diagonal moves at all? Or moving diagonally takes the same amount of movement as moving straight?

Also, sight range/firing range stays at the same at 16 or so tiles, right?

No diagonal moves. All things that involve distance will not involve diagonals, such as range modifiers and line of sight.

Also note that LoS is 12 tiles base for soldiers.

Dereck and Jane are now to be called Aereck and Aane.

Also if enough soldiers survive into the actual game, I vote that our squad remain the A-team

Your making a forum game based on XCOM, and you mentioned the A-team. If fate hadn't been tempted already, nothing I say will change that.

(Bump/question)
When we get into the actual game, will there be a strategic part in addition to the normal maps?
If so, will money be per player, one for everyone, or something else?

Yeah there will be strategic map. Play will be cooperative, suggestion game style, for stuff like research and picking squad members for a mission. Meanwhile individual players can apply for a soldier position, and play like in this test, choosing their own perks, equipment and actions.

So weapons and armor are free once researched, then?

And, will the maximum squad members remain at 6?
