Then we should start doing it after our next payday. I'm happy with the mostly agreed upon shopping list right now, however.

At this point, we need to keep it simple; Build Monk and Perhaps Priest and Gladiator Levels
I dislike gladiator long term. We don't want to be a gladiator for the rest of our lives. I prefer to leave it at 2 forever (unless we get some auto-upgrade) and take weapon specialist instead. Branching into other gods or crafting is an option too.

Earn Money, and aim to become a free gladiator.
Having some craft income will help in earning money and if we learn to do something useful for ourself then we will reduce expenses. Plus getting contacts in business means more sponsors. Also, I expect that becoming free gladiator is very expensive and we will not achieve this quickly

1: Hmm... Oops. I read that as 8mp per night of sleep. My bad.

2: I'm guessing that the Monk and Priest classes have alot of non-combat things going for them. Old time religious folks were the intellectuals in society. I'm sure each level we take in those classes comes with skills useful in the outside world. Crafting is nice and all, but until we are no longer forced to fight every few days, our focus should be on skills that allow us to survive fights.

3: I'm not the biggest fan of Gladiator long term either, but it does help us work the crowed and get more famous. Fame is good for almost any longterm plan we do end up having. That said, thinking about it, I do agree that weapon specialist is the better option for a pure combat non-religious class. We need a weapon worth specializing in before we consider that option though. I still think Monk should be our primary class, we have nasty natural weapons built right in, why not just focus on mastering those? If we loot something cool off a dead gladiator to specialize in, I say go for it, but I think if we end up spending money on gear in the near term it should be spent on armor; We are already quite armed and dangerous.

4: We can get contacts and resources through the temple as well. Our goddess is friends with other gods and goddesses, who likely have their own cults that might sponsor us. Furthermore I suspect that once we can get individual sponsors, lots of people will be in the market to sponsor gladiators who are priests/monks of their faith to show off how devout they are.

tldr: I don't disagree with anything that you say, but being a holy woman is pretty useful off the battlefield as well, and levels in Monk/Priest are more likely to keep us alive than levels in Crafting

Thing is that our stats are not that suited for being monk.

Our willpower and intelligence are slightly better than average, our speed and agility are low (BTW, Ross, is monk associated with unarmed combat in this verse?) Also, our flaws are working against a disciplined monk idea. I like having some buffs and debuffs but I actually prefer a defensive tank route and not becoming a mage.

Also, I dislike a route of becoming a saint and tying ourself too the  temple more than necessary. Our character is pious but has goals beyond serving the Goddess.

Crafting offers cash\handmade gear + many crafting professions offer knowledge that is useful at Arena. I mean Armorsmith may spot weak spots in armor and stuff like that. 20 perception is so great for many crafting jobs....

I'd love to see options for jobs and negative income jobs (I mean finding a trainer) and finding the best balance between income in $ and income in XP

Yes. In some cases, it is more like Tai Chi than Kung Fu Monks, but with that particular flavor of power use, learning how to manipulate the energies of your body is important. :D

We'd still need to secure a source of raw materials, a forge, and tools. I agree we might make damn good smiths, and could see us going that route at some point, but there could be overhead. I'm all for checking out the factory district and finding out for sure, but getting started in metal work could be a pain in the arse... But come to think of it, perhaps we can get the best of both worlds! Our goddess has a niece named Bree who is a Goddess of weapons (among other things). Weaponsmithing could very well come as part of the package if we take levels in Monk of Bree.

Next payday we perhaps ask about temples to Bree and throw some tithes her way.

Maybe we should ask at the temple how seemly it would be for a saint of a god to worship other gods? Maybe we're only supposed to worship our god exclusively as part of our sainthood?

Ross told us a few pages back that we could have up to three gods. I think if Sainthood was a problem, he would have mentioned it there.

Maybe we'll get a singular large bonus by sticking to one god? Access special powers we might not get if we worshipped other gods?

The general perspective is that provided you avoid conflict and the gods are compatible, it's accepted without comment.

In universe example: Shin frowns strongly upon necromancy, but one can follow Shin and Mingan provided the person mostly avoids non-approved necromancy. You can follow Vijer (Lawful Good) and Bree (Chaotic Good) at the same time, provided you have and keep to a moral code of justice, so on.

For example, this is a comparison of what Bree values and despises.

Bree, (Hedonism, Justice, Weapons) (Chaos, Magic, Lust)
Virtues:
Lust
Honor
Charity
Strength
Loyalty
Honesty
Compassion

Sins:
Mercy
Rape
Disloyalty
Arrogance
Infidelity
Senseless Violence - always have a reason for violence
Theft - more of 'don't take from the needy' than 'don't steal'.

Liagora is honorable, and leans Good, but is very Neutral. She recognizes and acknowledges that hunting evil is indeed an honorable cause, but it's the hunt itself that has her attention.

(Most Chaotic: Mingan, Tokee, Shin, Daimonas, Bree, Ingram
Most Lawful: Coranthiir, Halloran, Arnum, Illeni, Vijer, Ayrn
Most Evil: Daimonas, Sanoci, Darshendros,  Uayli, Marika, Sa'ada
Most Good: Yupoli, Illeni, Aroha, Radan, Minkah, Vijer, Bree
Most Neutral: Chelan, Eyilana, Ayrn, Sanoci, Liagora, Malu

Note that the gods of Evil and Law are not the most evil or lawful, and that the most Lawful is not on the "most good" list.)

Bree should be mostly compatible with us. Assuming 'for money' or 'for glory' is a passable reason for violence. We should at least visit her temple and see if her monks and priests know anything about weaponmaking. If so, a few levels of Monk of Bree might be in order in the future.

(Also she considers Compassion a virtue but Mercy a sin. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how that works. Do Bree's followers kill those who wrong them, but send flowers to their families afterwards? :p)

It is halfway between "do no harm but take no shit" and "The only good enemy is a dead enemy."

Hedonists, as you would expect, strongly embrace freedom and pleasure, and insist very firmly upon those natural rights. They are motivated by passion about others so as to ensure their opportunity to seek pleasure. When someone or something imposes upon those, they seek tound erstand its cause before stopping or removing the ability. If a Hedonist decides that you don't deserve mercy, it is more than likely that someone is going to pay

Taking a level in Monk of Bree would be a good investment later, if we choose to diverge into crafting.

I think we all agree on money spent so we got 5 gold and few days of spare time, right?

How does this look?:

After buying some rights, Olsha invests remaining 5 gold in future healing and spends most of free time studying religious matters. This time she is focused on finding divine allies in her revenge and visited their temples asking about possibility to gain knowledge and divine favour.
Religions to learn about:

Liagora's close relatives (Bree, Timeus, Shin, minor gods) + Illeni (because Olsha is interested in his healing and protective powers)

I am interested in Radan (for getting allies via diplomacy) and  Camille (yummy poisons) but find no IC reason for Olsha to get interested
____________

To not double post:

Quote
Monk - The Mage/Fighter of the mystical class; sort of a JOAT class.
Projector - Projective abilities consist of evocation, creation, transportation, and necromantic abilities, using what would commonly be known as "chi" or what-have-you.
Reflector - Reflective abilities consist of transmutation, illusion, and abjuration.
Intuitive - Intuitive abilities consist of divination, conjuration, healing, and enchantment.
If we do start following some of other gods I suggest not go for more monk levels but instead take Intuitive\reflector\projector or even more specialized stuff like enchanter or transmuter  with emphasis on mystical abilities tied to three gods we we will follow.

Gladiator\Liagoran Monk\Specialist melee levels\specialist caster levels\crafter = here are our options to level up. If we do take crafter it must have synergy with our casting class or be weaponsmith of our specialist melee class.

Balanced approach should keep gladiator and monk the highest, so my preferred scheme is

1) +1 level in specialist melee (Brawler is a nice option due to our natural weapons) (Likely requires finding  a trainer and spending cash)
2) +1 level in any specialist caster skills (Either trainer or spending much time in temples+ tithes to three gods)
3) (optional) level in crafting (more like by-product of us earning gold out of arena)
4) +1 level in monk (we are slowling gaining this in background, some effort will get it sooner)
5) +1 level in gladiator (Most logical use for general experience gained at arena)

Not necessarily in this order

Ross, can we Declare something like

Enchanter
Taking various bits from powers of Liagora, god X and god Y, Olsha starts to develop her own set of enchanting powers?

I'd say we just take one more god in the near term (likely Bree). Save our last slot for a less war-like god that we can pick later once we get a better feel for our long term plans.

Still, there is no harm in researching as many gods as we can right now.

---

We have a minor virtue actually called 'Intuitive', so I'm guessing that class will be the best fit for us of the ones you list.
