I'm not comfortable, at this stage, making a habit out of blowing our MP on crafting. Especially with an inferior material like bone.
Actually I'm not sure I like the idea of investing in our non-combat skills in general quite yet. At this point, we need to keep it simple; Build Monk and Perhaps Priest and Gladiator Levels, Earn Money, and aim to become a free gladiator. Perhaps do some menial work for cash or gear meantime. After we have our freedom we can work on establishing a life; Having a family, career, and/or a big scheme for vengeance will be a big pain in the ass if we are still at the beck and call of a master.
Once we have our freedom, we should have no trouble setting up a life with what skills and connections we have. I'd bet Monk and Priest have some utility outside of the arena. Furthermore, I half suspect that our religion, which endorses love but counts deities of Lust, Envy, and Beauty among its enemies might offer arranged marriage... or at least matchmaker services. Once we become a famous gladiator, we should be quite the catch, and can allow the experts to find us a significant other. We are in good enough standing with our god that the temple will want to see us matched up with somebody right for us.
tldr version: Just Focus on Combat Stuff and Buying our Freedom for now. We should be in a solid position to branch out and extablish ourselves once we are no longer enslaved. You can always buy healing in advance. The Temple is already putting in 4 HP of credit per fight for you, and unlike you, they have a fixed rate and a legitimate contract. It won't be too long before they start charging you more for treatment based on your income.
How long is healing purchased in advance good for? If there is no risk or downside, everybody would be doing it.
