Consider the effective level for the Dwarf. It's still a 4th level Martial character; just because their fighting style is more geared towards multiple enemies and better with a hammer doesn't change that he's still got a higher effective Martial level than you.

It's possible the Dwarf doesn't have a hammer. It's also possible that they have a particularly good one. It's all a gamble.

Also, letter of the words the Sun Elf said, too.

Ross, we are choosing opponent OOC, right?

In character. You wouldn't know why in character, but there is definitely a reason.

Oh, then F

Looks like a suicide thing to do, but stubborn and pious character will not ignore will of the Goddess because of high risk

As for the name, I suggest

Olsha daughter of Tark random and little sense but I like it

You inform the Slavemaster that your name is Olsha Rossalina, daughter of Tark, and inquire as to his name. He tells you he's Mean, son of Bitch, and to not ask questions.  You slide the paper tingling with Significance towards him, and Mean, son of Bitch, almost looks impressed by your selection. He tells you to go through the door and wait your turn. You join six other gladiators and ten prisoners in the holding room, watched by surly guards and a sapphire-eyed, blood-red plated skeleton  holding a short bone dagger and a glowing crystal shortsword, locked in with you. Something about the person makes you strongly reconsider your "overpower the guards and escape" plan, and no conversation is held.

The numbers thin out, and your name is called.

You proceed through to see the following inventory available:

- Heavy Iron Spiked Flail (9 Bludgeon+3 Piercing)
- Steel Shortsword (8 Piercing/6 Slashing)
- Damaged Iron Battleaxe (8 slashing/3 bludgeon)
- 6x Worn Iron and Lead Darts (3 piercing; causes Bleeding effect)
**
- Worn Large Iron Chain (-2 slash/-2 pierce)
- Damaged Large Iron Plate (-2 slash / -1 pierce / -1 blunt / -1 ballistic)
**
- Bubbling Orange Potion
- Sticky Green Potion
- Glowing Red Potion
- Glowing Red Potion
- Neon Blue Potion

Do we know if the arena supply people are the sort to put nasty debuff potions in with the supplies available to the gladiators?

Bolded the things we should take into the arena with us. The red potions are obviously health potions, the blue one is obviously a mana potion, the green potion is obviously a poison (for poisoning our weapon), and the orange potion is obviously an explosive. Obviously.

+1 but no to wearing two armors and take only the chain mail.

Why are we not wearing two armours and why are we taking the worse of the two? The plate has a greater total defensive bonus and it protects against more kinds of damage. Our enemy is a ranger and will probably have ranged weapons, hence the need for ballistic protection.

You can wear both, but be aware that your damage resistance doesn't stack, just resorts to the highest value at the time of the strike. Bear in mind, you're going to be charged for both if you take both.

Rates may vary, too, but generally, the higher the defense, the higher the rent.

The only thing that you WON'T be charged for is the sword. You killed it, you bought it.

The health potion will remove the healing cost after the battle AND save our life in the arena. The plate should protect us from whatever weapons we come across, and the steel shortsword has good stats and is also free.

Hm, saving money is rather important.
New plan:

Steel Shortsword (8 Piercing/6 Slashing)
Worn Large Iron Chain (-2 slash/-2 pierce)
Glowing Red Potion

Red potion is for the last resort option because we don't know the effect...

We are about to play fencing with a duelist, not the best idea, but heavy weapons give us even less chances to hit him. Also, a shortsword offers some defence unlike the chain and this is important.

Darts are waste because we are not a good thrower and magic is a better ranged option.
_______-
Ninjad by almost the same plan :)

Worn Large Iron Chain (-2 slash/-2 pierce)
Keep in mind that this guy is an earth elementalist and a ranger as well. He could make earth bullets or fire ranged weapons at us and we'd have no protection as a result, plus he could be playing unorthordox and use a mace or something against us.

It varies, because the houses aren't nice,  but so far it resembles:

Total Average HP of weapons / 3 = cost in gold per weapon
Total soak of armor * 3 = cost in gold per armor
1 HP = 2 gold
Potions = ????

XP is earned at roughly double gold. For the time being, the "General level" and "specific level" are 500 to add to existing or 750 to add a new one. You are slightly less than halfway to a "general" level, which can be applied any way you please, and at about 3/4th of the way to earning yourself Monk 2.
