C - joining the bandwagon

For the long term strategy - I'd try to get a level in ranged combat, our perception is our best stat, learning to throw axes\daggers\whatever can help us a lot. Level in martial artist can be very useful, too.

Theoretically more monk levels we have the more spells we would gain, thus we would have more debuffs and melee attack skills along with some of the other knick-knacks that come with the domains of Liagora, though warrior would really help with survival and adaptability, you never know what kind of tricks the other gladiators may have.

Well, our level up possibilities:

Gladiator - The best for actually fighting in the arena but the least useful for the day when we leave the arena
Warrior - Not as good as Gladiator for arena but more versatile long term
Liagoran Monk 1 Will improve our magical options and unarmed attacks

Potential:
Martial artist : fighting without weapons, can be extyremely useful in some subsets of fights, but least useful when weapons are present

Weapon X specialist - Probably even better than gladiator for most fights, but will we have a luxury to choose our weapon often?

Thrower - With our perception and strength this can be a very powerful option

Priest - pure magic option.

Let's not forget about our stats...

We have low speed(9) and agility(10), makes us rather ill suited for lightly defended fighter but I don't think that it goes against martial artist style because we will be a heavyweight champion.

Stamina(12) is on the lower end, this means that we shouldn't try to go for long tiring battles.

Willpower (12) and Intelligence (12) say us that focusing on spell-casting is a dubious strategy

Strenght (16) - we are OK for using heavy weapons and armor

Endurance (19) - I thing this means we have more than average HP and this is good

Perception (20) - Together with our strength it gives us great potential for throwing stuff at enemies. I think that one level of it can make a lot of difference and I would actually vote for getting a level in it if I didn't vote for giving all gold to our goddess due to roleplaying reasons.

UR is correct, more or less. Give me a bit to housework, then I'll post.

You're slightly slower than the average person, as far as movement goes. Stamina, willpower, and intelligence are slightly above average, but within a standard deviation. Just by stats and class, your theoretical "best approach" is to come in hard, take away the enemy advantages, and otherwise being a tank with debuffs.

Monk - The Mage/Fighter of the mystical class; sort of a JOAT class.
Projector - Projective abilities consist of evocation, creation, transportation, and necromantic abilities, using what would commonly be known as "chi" or what-have-you.
Reflector - Reflective abilities consist of transmutation, illusion, and abjuration.
Intuitive - Intuitive abilities consist of divination, conjuration, healing, and enchantment.

Yourmystic class, as per your usage, is favoring Projection.

Hum... well, while perception is not all that limited to ranged combat, it certainly could do us well if we improve on it. As in, Weapon Specialist: Thrown Weapons.

Then again, we already do have ranged options of using spells. We actually might be better served to expand into what we already are able to do, instead of becoming too much of an all-around type. Sure enough, those tend to be strong at the beginning, but in the long run the "focused" types win out. Well, what I'm trying to get at - Caster / Melee hybrid? Effective Choice. Caster / Melee / Ranged Hybrid? Quite possibly stretched a bit too thin & too far.

Edit: UK... that is a train of thought that I like. Actually, really like. This would do us good for duel situations, which should play a significant part in our carreer. Or do they?

I am not sure how far the arena's of this empire go, for the romans were quite creative in their endeavours. Not only battling wild beasts, no, rome even held up to sea-battles in the colloseum! Add magic and fantasy races to that mix, and the possibilities only increase. Well, what I'm trying to say - we could see far more than duels in this arena. Wild Beasts already were on offer. Magical beast should be par for the course, at least later on. Battles or magical games also might be in store for us....

Either way, unless the arena is overpopulated by slaves, and they throw blood-letting re-enactment battles or something every other day, learning some showmanship could prove very fruitful to our cause.

After rethinking I think we should level up gladiator next, because this profession includes skills to please the crowd, that means popularity, that means money.

That wouldn't be sticking in character, though. We're out for revenge/freedom of our people - not self-advancement.

You decide to give your winnings to your Goddess. After all, her teachings allowed you to unlock your potential, and one would be well-advised to honor the Goddess of Revenge when attempting to get it. You get to your feet and proceed out the door, already used to the sudden appearance of the slave-character appearing on you, glowing malevolently. You don't have access to much of the city, or even to go near the edges, but the Temple Canton was free to all (mostly, at least.) After purchasing the appropriate novice garments and a crude True Sigil, you proceed to attend a class, and afterwards, deposit the entirety of your coin in the ancient burlwood bowl at the foot of the altar-tree.

After dinner, you wait for the slave-mark to grow hot, but it remains cold, and you decide to remain overnight. As you proceed to the room, a young-looking Sun Elf in full robes beckons to you. Intrigued, you follow them into the alcove, and are greeted with Cultspeak.

"We have come to possess knowledge that one of your next battles will put you against an enemy of our Faith. It is asked that you facilitate his path of self-destruction. Painfully. There is much honor in victory."

The Elf leaves before you can speak, and you flick your tail around, annoyed and also somewhat flattered. The next morning, you are aware of a new ability within you - drawing strength from pain - quite accidentally when nearly tripping over a loose rock on the street and kicking it in retaliation. Instead of moving a few feet like expected, the rock cracks from the impact and shatters as it rolls down the street. Over the following four days, you continue to attend services at the temple, embracing your duties as a novice with enthusiasm making up for your clumsiness and slight unwillingness to obey the rules to the letter; by the time your slave-character burns, you feel as though you are very close to earning the right to exchange your novice "robe" for that of the lowest laymonk. (Read this as: you are about to level in Monk.)

You return to the barracks to meet the Slavemaster, a surly scarred Celestialborn (you aren't aware of Angel or Demon, unfortunately). With a grunt, he pushes the battle papers at you, scratches his arm, and says "Name." One of the papers with enemies keeps jumping to your eye - naturally, it's the most dangerous one of the individual fights.

If we win this fight, we can probably get away with not paying tithes for once.

I think that trying to kill the guy that strong is too risky and should be delayed till we get better equipment and level up once.  Common, he has two more levels and (likely) a proper equipment

I vote for Manticore (Predator 5) Fight with the predatory beast is the best because it is not smart enough to counter our magic.

About the size, and general area and population, of early/middle Mongolian Empire. It's dedicated in large part to an Omnicidal Neutral God, and is ruled by the Seven Warlords, with a figurehead Emperor. There'spplenty of religious tension and all kinds of fun things.

The Arena changes, frequently, and a full scale naval battle is possible. There are Immortal Matches, in which participants cannot die no matter what happens, which are frequently used as a form of punishment and to revoke Contract due to outstanding debts, etc, etc. So, not just Romans, but fanatic religious despots with essentially infinite money and labor amusing themselves and the "important" classes.

At some point, you can indeed buy the right to receive public funding, the right to seek private sponsors, so on.

Also, since this was missing from the Martial classes:

Duelist: Opposite of a fighter - they excel in one on one combat but flounder when up against multiple opponents. Similar to a warrior, except when it comes to one on one, they get bonuses of similar size as the warrior when in mass combat.

I vote we fight C, because that dwarf's skills are way too spread out. We could easily counter all of his classes. Basically paralyze and gore, and he won't be too fast or too smart either.

I'm wary of the manticore. It seems incredibly dangerous to fight one on one right now.

If that Wood Elf dies and doesn't die by our hand, our goddess probably won't be pleased with us. Worst case scenario is we lose our Lesser Saint status, even if we donate all of our money as a tithe.
