Karia did not appreciate the questioning. Especially as she doubted it would work both ways.

'Some men do. Some don't. I have my reasons.'

She turns her back to Sucana, showing the open back and her scars, and cutting her off. Instead, she addresses Essel, with a slight smirk.

'I would hardly say where I am from. More.... where many aspire to be. I am not so keen on these aspirations. Now, I believe we should be getting on.'

Karia marches towards the fissure.

Sučana smiled slightly as the woman retreated from the conversation, enjoying the reaction.

(Shit, you guys post really fast.)

Slope rolled his eyes. They really should be getting on with this. He saw Sucana's smile as Karia walked away. Domineering, that one. Well, she was royalty.

Essel was used to deferring to authority so, even though Sucana's attitude got on his nerves, he offered no comment.

Together, the four made their way into the crevasse, leaving the silent dead to continue their slow consumption by the stone.

True to Karia's expectations, the floor was rough and even. The tunnels wormed their way randomly through the stone. Someone had marked the stone occasionally to make a path, and while they found dead ends and sudden pitfalls, the light of their orbs slowly let them find the correct path.

Finally, they found where the cave system seemed to intersect with a corridor. The floor of the tunnel - the ceiling of the corridor - was missing. Beneath the chunks of debris from the roof collapse, smooth hexagonal tiles could be seen - the same darker material as the doorway in the cavern previous.

The floor seems slightly angled, heading down into (or up out of ) the underground. From the up direction, you can hear a faint murmur, like a voice or voices - though it's too quiet and distorted by echoes to pick out words

Sučana placed her Sunmote on the ground-while it was useful, she had no doubt of it's fragility and the awkwardness of trying to fight with it in her off hand. Not to mention a good hit would cause it to explode and blind her.

She shifted the sword to her preferred two handed grip, and began to stalk forward carefully, her body lean and loose-like she had been trained. She had no doubt whatever beings (if there were beings) would be alerted by their lights, but she would be prepared...

Action: Place my sunmote carefully on the floor and creep forward, leading the group, looking for the source of danger.

Essel had turned his cloak into a shoulder sack and was carrying his sunmotes that way to keep his hands free, though wrapped in cloth they didn't provide much illumination. He removed one and held it in his left hand, prepared to throw it if the need arose.

Keep my sword ready in one hand and a sunmote in the other. Stay behind Sucana and keep her way lit.

He whispered to the others behind him before continuing. One of you take the sunmote she put down.

Karia also put her mote down, and motioned for one of the others to take it. Her outfit didn't allow for much carrying space.

She twirled her blade slightly in her grip, disappointed at its lack of finesse, before settling it into a combat grip - one handed, for Karia, as she certainly didn't trust her dress to protect her from any blow. At least she hadn't worn hard heels - the clicking would have given them away a mile off.

Equipment sorted, she took position a few paces behind the other woman - Karia didn't trust her to watch her back yet, but she might make an adequate vanguard if all she said was true.

Put down sunmote and creep forward, a few paces behind Sucana

((I guess Slope is the mule, since there are two sunmotes on the ground and the rest of us are preparing for combat.))

"Guess I've got to carry the damn sunmotes." He had a plan. "I'll scout ahead, draw them in with all the light I'm carrying. You guys attack from the shadows."

Pick up as many sunmotes as I can hold. Scout ahead and draw attention from what beings might lay ahead.

Hold it! That's a terrible idea, you can't defend yourself. Stay in the back where you'll be safe, at least for now. We don't even know for sure if there's anything out there.

"How is it a terrible idea? I'm the smallest and the fastest here. I can outrun and outmaneuver almost anything! I'll go check it out if anything's even there. If there isn't, I'll just call you guys. If there is, I'll make a lot of noise and attract their attention. Plus I got these sunmotes. I'll throw one in the midst of any ne'erdowells as they chase me, then you guys charge in while they're blinded."

You can't blind undead, nor most cave creatures. It's better to let someone who's armed go ahead. There won't be much warning if you're ambushed. We need to stick together.

Essel continued protesting, but he wouldn't stop him if he continued to insist on what he considered an unsafe venture.
