Sučana had flinched away from the bright flash, though it stung the corners of her eyes with dancing lights.

"...a handy weapon in a pinch, that. Good thinking." She complimented Essel.

"Anyway, that's two ways out for us, right-either through the cavern door or the archway. Anyone want to lead the way?"

At the flash, Karia spins, eyes near closed against the light.

'Kindly warn us next time you might be risking our lives!'

She softens slightly, the risk having paid off.

'Still, a good idea otherwise.'

She sighs, and heads to collect a sunmote, as well as a sword - preferably one that has dropped out of its owner's grasp.

As she moves, she replies to Sucana:

'The door asks that any not of the kingdom pass. Only asks, mind. And I suppose it could be read from the other way. That crack looks just as suspicious to me from here though.'

Essel was busy clutching at his face. Ow! Fuck.. Ow, ow- He rubbed his eyes and waited for the dark blobs swimming across his vision to recede.

Yeah, pretty useful as long as you warn everyone before you use it.

Get a sword for myself and then gather as many sunmotes as I can carry.

I say let's heed the warning and head through the fissure. That looks like a way out. Something else passed through it before.

'Something else....'

Karia shakes her head, glancing down at her ridiculous attire, and the sword in contrast. Then she starts to put her shoes back on - it was a good thing she'd practiced fighting in them.

'Oh, joy.'

"Why would there be a warning from the inside, however? A mystery we haven't the time to unravel...

Let's go through the fissure. One ways as good as any other, I suppose."

Action: I vote for the fissure

Karia and Essel claim swords for themselves. Their previous holders regard them with empty eye sockets, silently watching as they make their way back into the corridor. Using the swords to hack at the engulfing stone, they manage to prise a trio of the glowing orbs free - now with more sunmotes missing than not, the passage is dark but for the glowing spheres they hold.

'Well, i don't see either way as favourable, so I guess we're heading into the maw of the earth.'

She finished pulling her shoes back on, getting to her feet, before heading to the fissure.

She finished pulling her shoes back on, getting to her feet, before heading to the fissure.

As they move toward the fissure, Sučana cocks her head sideways like a inquisitive bird...

"...what is it with the shoes? You kick them off, put them on again. Why did you do that? It almost seems like you don't know how to walk in them." She asks pointedly.

'Well you see, we're currently in a nice, smooth bottomed cavern.'

She sweeps a hand around at the floor.

'But random cracks are not renowned for their comfort on the feet.'

Another gesture, this time at her feet.

'And see, whilst I can walk in them fine, I much prefer a more... stable footing.'

"I was more interested in the story about you came to be wearing them. I, for example, am wearing the padded vest and breeches I had on, when my I faced my sister. My battle armor apparently didn't make the journey..."

Slope's eyes were still a little sore after Essel threw that sunmote. The rest were all carrying one now, but Slope thought that he shouldn't need one now that they had sufficient light.

The message on the door was ominous. Sucana was right; they didn't have time to unravel that mystery.

Follow them through the fissure.

'And I am wearing the dress I wore so that I didn't have to kill the innocent guards of the man i was there for.'

Her face twists.

'Not a matter of personal taste.'

"Why did this man deserve to die?" She asks, a trifle relentlessly. She shows no obvious reaction to the fact just revealed otherwise.

Oh I get it now, it's some kind of disguise, right? That must be the kind of clothes that people wear in the town where you're from. It looks a bit.. Cold.
