((The crumbling wall just leads into their room, but anyway.))

Changed action: Backstab a monk after the flash!

Spoiler: Essel swings at a monk (click to show/hide)

Essel hurled forth a sunmote. The blinding flash sent the monks reeling, and Essel was already charging, swinging his sword towards the head of a monk. It flailed out, and Essel was forced to back away from the reaching claws.

Spoiler: Slope backstabs a monk (click to show/hide)

But Slope has taken the opportunity to slip past and circle around, and rams his blade into the malformed spine of the rightmost monk. It thrashes, a impaled bug, before it slumps to the side

"What a... bad... child..."

The remaining monk lashes out blindly at Essel, trying to catch him with those jagged bone spurs.
Spoiler: Monk grabs Essel (click to show/hide)
Essel is already too far back, and the monk grabs nothing but air. It's lunging arms scrape against the stone bricks on either side of the corridor, leaving it open when Sučana charges forward again. It blinks frantically, getting it's vision back just in time to see the warrior barrelling towards it.

Spoiler: Sučana stabs the monk (click to show/hide)

The cut opens up a long gash in its chest that oozed vile, stinking blood, but the monk still lives. It topples backwards, and Sucana promptly rams her sword through it's throat. It gurgles and shudders before it lies still.

Sucana flicked her blade downwards, with a practiced flourish to remove the greasy, rotten blood.

"That's for them.

There's...others...in the room ahead. I'm not sure, but they don't seem to be victims. Let's go see, shall we?"

Action: Go and inspect the spiked monks next. Kill them if they are also Necromonks...

((Yeah if they try to attack you, take em' out, but we might be able to ask them questions if they're helpless.))

Karia, can you stay with Sucana? I want Slope to come with me to check out that crumbling wall.

Backtrack to the wall we saw and lean against it until it falls over.

Karia nodded. She follows Sucana, prodding her foot at the corpses as she passes. She stabs downwards into the one she killed, just to make sure, before wiping her blade on its cloak.

'They said this was a temple. We best be careful not to find out what to.'

Inspect spiked monks. Be ready to defend self.

Slope followed Essel to the crumbling wall. Though he might be small, with enough push he could probably break it down. Assist Essel in breaking down the wall.

((I guess we have plenty of time for RP while Gigglemacs evades the cops. Or whatever.))

Sucana leaned up against the wall, trying to catch her breath before going to confront the other ones. Even killing them as they were would be...difficult.

"Let's take a breather, yes? What you're about to see is...disturbing."

Essel nudged one of the fallen monks with his boot.

Seems like this King guy is the major problem. These guys were pushovers, but who knows what other freaks he's got in store.

"Indeed. I suppose I should consider it bitterly amusing I won one war and unseated a pretender to my throne, just to find another war waiting for, and another person who needs relieving of a throne..." She reflects somberly.

The Queen seems to reflect, her voice growing softer and more resonant-like a mother speaking about her child...

"Which part?

Most of the regions of my land are covered in wet, humid jungles-miles and miles of it. Mostly wild land, we claim the hills to make our steppe farms and highest peaks for our cities. It's where I was born, if that's what you're asking. My people live near the rivers, or in the places we've diverted the water to fuel our cities. We have a network of roads that runs through the entire Empire, connecting us together. My Grandmother was responsible for that-she mandated a hundred thousand foot long stone blocks for the construction. Every person in the Empire, every man, woman, and child had to provide directly or indirectly four stone blocks worth of labor to the construction. It worked well enough-we have twenty-five thousand feet of roads to all the corners of the Empire fit for a two horse cart, or eight men abreast.

Otherwise, to the East, grassy lands where we grow food and tend our livestock. The West and North are mostly tropical oceans and small chains of islands. We have small colonies and forts in the South, we're the weather is more temperate and dry, but few people live there."
