Bio:
Chek had an easy-going life, as much as easy-going the life of a farmer can be. He have raised pigs, sown and harvested millet and soybeans and cut down timber most of his life. He had few wives and has several children, and he is pretty sure that by now he also has at least couple of grandchildren, too.
After he have passed the fiftieth winter of his life, the times have changed. The outsiders have came, on horses or on foot, and with them, lots of turmoil. Chek could no longer just sit on his bum and raise piglets; instead, he had to learn how to defend himself, his family, and his village. With the help of traveling mystics, he have learned an ancient technique of fist magic - sometimes however, he says he have learned the skill from a lady in one of his dreams, and he is certain that she is coming to punish him for the theft of her martial techniques.
Alas, the worse was about to come. When he returned one day from his trip to the Mountain of Seven Plum Trees, his village was partially gone; a vicious attack of nomadic raiders took most of the youth as slaves and torched the fields. The next autumn, a drought have caused famine and the village was depopulated, as the remaining youths moved on to greener pastures. Chek have remained in his home village, as the elders died or moved away, and the fields and houses became more and more silent. Finally, shortly before his sixtieth birthday, he has buried his eldest sibling, Seol, under his family tree in the back of his house's garden. Now he was the last of the villagers remaining, and he wasn't going to stay.
Aged 61, with a life of vice and simplicity and toil and happiness behind him, Jongul Chek have began his journey to the west, to gain enlightment before joining his ancestors in the afterlife. Or, as he puts it, 'to punch some mischievious kids and have some fun while I still can!'.
