Vampire Mayor: Alone among the dead
« on: April 16, 2015, 05:36:52 pm »

Today has been a bad day. On this day the 9th of sandstone 293 two major events happened, first off one of the two lone survivors of the zombie apocalypse cracked under the pressure. Melbil the animal caretaker distraught at being forced to slaughter the reanimated remains of those he once loved even when he himself was at no risk of being attacked as he was a vampire went into a berserk rage and was torn to shreds by the zombie horde.

Mayor Ingish is alone among the dead now. It is just him, the ghosts, and the undead. The second event incidentally was a new batch of nonvampire migrants. New migrants do show up periodically but they die in moments adding ever more to the ranks of the dead.

Anyone got suggestions for how to salvage this situation?

If you still have an accessible pick, this game is salvageable. Use clever tactics to entrap the zombie horde, bury the dead and rebuild from there.

Have the vamp hack down trees, then build walls around high-density zombie zones, and lots of safehouses on the map edge.

Do zombie dwarves even recognizable? I mean, a ghost is still that person with a ghost status, but a zombie is just a copy of the dead person, if you kill a zombie, it will appaer in the dead unit list, along with it's dwarf version.

I may have taken liberties with it for the sake of story  :P he was pissed because of long patrol, miasma, lost loved ones from the initial slaughter, injuries, and being haunted.

Well in 34.11 I've had Dwarves bury "Urist McMason's corpse" in "Urist McMason's" tomb. So they recognize the corpses to some extent. One wonders if a Dwarf is attacked by their own severed limb if they would be traumatized additionally by being attacked by the undead and by being attacked by their own dead self.

Maybe there're some changes since 40.xx.
I hope I can bury those corpses.

Wait, what do you mean by salvaging?

This is already a perfect situation for a hermit game!

By that I mean murdering all the undead so that the new migrations waves will be able to get in. The mayor refuses to work when not off slaughtering the dead.

Why not feed the migrants to your zombie pets?

Mostly because the mayor won't do anything unless given a military order. I gave him all kinds of labors removed them and tried everything in between and he refuses to work.  As fun as hermitting might be it's going to get boring if I can't work on any one dwarf mega projects.

What if you turn him military? Will he attack the undead and get killed?
