Maribel sighed, and walked over to the nearest corpse, poking it a couple of times with her foot.
  "How gross.. Why would someone even make these..?"

A shadow hand picked it up and passed it up to Noel; he took it and tossed it underhand back at Ayzebel, where it landed in the snow about two feet in front of her. He didn't exactly have a strong throwing arm.

"Eh, thanks anyway, but the opportunity already passed. They burned the body I was interested in. All that's left are the reanimated humans, and I doubt their inner workings are much different from ours."

[GiglameshDespair]

"As you wish."

Ayzebel hooked a boot-tip on the knife, flicked it up into the air, and caught it, the blade disappearing back into her cloak.

[Xanmyral]

"Ooh, yeah, that could help. I bet a solid, stone wall would make these attacks trivial. Doubt they have the infrastructure or quarry for that though, so a pointless thought probably." The knight mused.

"Honestly, I'm more curious why they're attacking. Having stared down most of them for a minute or so, I can pretty well confirm they aren't mindless. Is there something directing them to attack here?"

The knight waved at Guiseppina as she walked over, pumping an arm in the air with shared celebration.

"Hm, another good question. One I would like to investigate, because it's very likely magic directing them, and that sort of knowledge could be very useful indeed."

As the last beast was slain and the villagers went about cleaning up the bodies Irios went around healing those with the noticeable wounds, healing the more severe ones first. As such, he ended at Guiseppina.

"Nice job with that giant."

Giuseppina waved cheerily back at Aur, before finding herself addressed by Irios.
Ah, thanks! It wasn't really all that much, though, the others did most of the work."

[GiglameshDespair]

Ayzebel stepped up besides Irios.
"Do not dismiss your efforts. You did well." She looked at Irios and spoke dryly. "And Irios did not feel the need for a nap mid-fight, so all is well."

No, she hadn't forgotten about that, but she offered a smile to show it was jesting rather than scathing.

Giuseppina blushed a little at the praise and looked down.
Nah, not really, I only managed to get at it because everything else was already dead and all, and I missed all the other times..."

"But you managed to stay up though, which made my job a bit easier."

"Really, we could use another healer..."

Irios let out a nervous laugh.

"Y-Yeah, must've been this bracing cold that kept me awake. Haha..."

:"...you know... I almost get the feeling they didn't actually even need us for defense, but... I dunno, hopefully they'll still give us the thing...?

"Well, we did do most of the work and none of them died, so they'd better respect that."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Indeed. Without us, I imagine they would have lost some of their own. "

[Xanmyral]

"Yeah, they... Probably would of just smashed through the wall the archers were behind and come on in, instead of us forcing them around and into the bulk of their melee. That would of been bad." Aurelian agreed with the others as he looked at the smashed palisade.

"To be honest, little surprised they didn't just try to avoid the gate entirely if they could just smash through. Would of also been bad."

I mean... yeah! We were, like, the bulwark protecting most of them, right? Well, I guess that's Aurelian, but us too!"
