"No particular style. I've always tended to have a blade - a sword or dagger, at the least. Without something more, unarmed doesn't tend to be lethal enough."

Without warning she darted forward and jabbed towards Miranda's head.

"What do you mean by- Wah!" Miranda barely managed to duck below Ayzebel's strike. Her left arm jerked up, with its back facing the sky to deflect the blow upwards. In a flash Miranda stepped back and twisted round her heels so she was flanking Ayz right.

"Are you really only interested in it for killing?" she said, before stepping forward and released a punch at Ayz's chest, punctuated by a shout.

"One always fights to kill!!"
Her forearm swung round to block the punch, before she launched a kick to the side towards Miranda's own chest.

Miranda jumped backwards and out of Ayz's reach.

"That's not a very comforting thing to be hearing at a moment like this." she said before responding with a roundhouse kick of her own.

"Ha! Don't worry. This is a spar, not a fight!"

Ayzebel chose to take the hit, grunting at the impact, as she grabbed the leg and hauled - using her stronger constitution and muscles to her advantage, she brought Miranda in for a savage elbow strike.

Miranda was unable to react in time and gasped as the air was knocked out of her and she feel to the floor. After a second she pulled herself back up into a kneeling position, breathing heavily.

"Alright, you win-" she coughed "-this round. I won't go easy on you next time."

Ayzebel nodded and stepped back, rubbing her arms.
"You kick hard... Another round?"
She settled into a light stance, arms raised.

Noel finally finished transcribing the group's adventures up to this point, so that if something were to go wrong there would at least be a record of what they had done. He sighed, rubbed his face, and rolled up the scroll. The question was, now what? He didn't feel like reading anything else in the library, and he was too mentally drained at the moment to try to solve some of the theories and equations he was working on. After drumming his fingers on the tables for a few moments, he got up and left the library. Perhaps a walk to clear his head would do him some good.

"Sure." she said, still breathing heavily. "Just gimme a second. Wow you hit hard."

Miranda stayed kneeling on the ground for a short while until her breahing subsided. Feelig confident that she had recovered, Miranda stood up and returned to the location opposite Ayz she had been standing at the start of the match

"Before we start... What you said about only learning to fight for the sake of killing. Did you really mean that?"

Some soldiers passed Noel and he overheard a bit of the conversation of the two:

"So what's for dinner today?"
"One of the cooks made horsemeat stew, heard 's pretty good..."

Sure sounds delicious.

Ayzebel nodded again.
"There's no room for doubt on the battlefield. By facing you, they've already made their lives forfeit."

Noel made a mental note to not eat the stew. He wasn't sure if eating Akk counted as cannibalism or not, but either way, the thought of devouring a fellow sentient being made him feel a little sick. If he ran into anyone else, he would let them know so they could make their own decision about it. Rubbing his forehead with his fingers, Noel continued walking.

"Well I guess so. Though it sounds kinda freaky. But that's not what I meant. Kind of."

"It's just seems weird."

Ayzebel frowned slightly in confusion.
"What do you mean?"

"Well this fighting style I use. We call it the Golden Hand back home. When my uncle taught it to me, he told me that we used it to teach concentration, discipline, self-defense, and... I forgot the last one."

"Oh yeah! It was an appreciation for our own limits and nature's creatures. Some of the moves were invented by observing the movements of animals. Like our horses! We also have a couple ceremonies that involve sparring at the center.

"It's just seems really strange to me the idea of learning a fighting style only to be able to kill people. I mean I like to practice my forms to calm myself down when I'm upset, and it's fun just to have spars like this.
