"What an uncanny resemblance. Anyway, what dangers would there be on the way?"

"Your military adviser is missing, you say?"

[Haspen]

"Yes. He was an accomplished scout and headed to investigate Akk's and others reports about some strange people hiding in one of the uninhabited tunnels in the Mist Cave to the north of here. That was seven cycles ago and he should easily return in five. I'm a bit worried."

[Xanmyral]

"Could you fix our device if we help find your adviser?" Aurelian asked the old man. He had to resist the urge to call him High Priest.

[Haspen]

"Ah, you're not strangers to the concept of adventurers' quest. Fine then. As Imperial clerk I can hastily prepare the paperwork and come up with a monetary reward..."

"No money; like Aurelian said, we just want you to fix our mirror." The elderly man beamed with happiness.

"Then it is settled. Please wait here for a while longer." With that, the old artificier left the inn, while the gargoyle grumbled.

"Your ribs gonna get cold."

[Xanmyral]

"Alright, progress! We just need to find his adviser, he fixes our mirror, and we can go back home with the shard. We should try to talk him into fixing the mirror while we're looking for his adviser, could save us some time."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"That's not a bad idea."

[GiglameshDespair]

"I don't imagine we have much alternative."

[Haspen]

The elderly man have returned after some time.

"All is set. Take this seal, in case any patrol would want to stop you, you can show this and they will let you pass." Aliberti carefully pocketed a small scroll with big red wax seal on it.

"Akk shall come with you. He has been in that area so he can easily guide you through the tunnels."

"Let's go, people! The moment we return home is approaching fast."

It was another silent trip, and, despite Artificier's worries, nobody showed up to stop Aliberti and his entourage. During the journey, Akk did not say a word and neither did the royal sibling. Time, not measureable underground, was passing in boredom and silence, and the whole group-

"Why do you never say anything?"

"Hmmm?" Aliberti struck his sister with elbow, gently, but she was rather insistent.

"I will let you know, we're not some kind of pilgrimaging monks under vow of silence! This world is so different than ours, you could-"

"Yet you shall be leaving it soon, if I understand correctly. What's the point of describing it if you will leave it?"

"Oh, I don't know, we might one day return to-" Rosana thought for a moment and then turned to Aliberti. "Actually can we return to the worlds we visited?"

"I'm... not sure? The device is supposedly directing us to a world with the shard but... I will ask Mullah when we return, he will probably know the details."

"So I was right. No need to describe our world to you." With Akk, satisfied, Aliberti, determined, and Rosana, making a pouty, unhappy face, the trek through the tunnels continued.

It didn't continue for long before Akk stopped the group behind a huge stalagmite.

"Wait here." He then turned around the corner, briefly disappearing from sight.

"Why did we stop?"

"I don't know. Maybe he heard something, but I didn't hear a thing..." Akk was soon back.

"There's a bunch of bandits guarding a narrow part of this tunnel. They look confident. If Advisor Opal was here, it must mean he was inevitably captured by them."

"I see. Is there any way past these thugs here?"

"None."

"Then the course of action is clear." Aliberti drew his sword out, and so did Rosana.

"After standing in the snow place and doing nothing but freezing my backside off, I will gladly stab some thugs!"

"If iron and steel is the currency here, I bet their weapons are rubbish if these are just bandits. Maybe I should go first, they might not even be able to get past my armor. When I have them distracted, you guys can rush in and overpower them."
