Rhythm Doctor
« on: April 12, 2015, 03:21:22 am »

Just a small topic to link to an awesome and short in-browser rythm-game: http://fizzd.itch.io/rhythm-doctor
The concept is simple enough: you have to press "space" at the 7th beat. Things start to get neat when you have to "decipher" the songs and identify when these 7th beats happen.

That's a screenshot of the first boss, which is by the way an awesome level. Go play this game! :)

Another game to check, from the same devs, directly quoting Graknorke:
Oh, and you might want to [check] A Dance of Fire and Ice too. It's another one-button rhythm game that they made for a Ludum Dare. Except this one focuses mostly on the transition between beat and offbeat. And the music is good, as you'd expect.

I remember playing an early version of this a long time ago, it was good. I liked the music.

This is good, it sucks that I'm absolutely terrible at it :P

I do indeed love this game. Played it since the first public release and have checked pretty frequently on progress.

And miauw, the secret is to press on the 7th beat :P

EDIT: Oh, and you might want to put a link to A Dance of Fire and Ice in the OP too. It's another one-button rhythm game that they made for a Ludum Dare. Except this one focuses mostly on the transition between beat and offbeat. And the music is good, as you'd expect.

This is pretty great! Unfortunately it is now distracting me from my end of term work buildup...

Wow, this game super fun. The music is really good, the timing is tight (as it should be)... I'm having a blast.

Also, if the OP would be kind enough to satisfy my OCD and correct the thread title typo: rythm -> rhythm.

Dammit, I knew something was off. Correcting right now!

I'm gonna have to test that as well. Adding the link!

Second level is easily my favorite. Love the guitar.

Spoiler: Oh it gets harder (click to show/hide)

Missing the last beat made me C that one.

Still very fun though, thanks for sharing.

Yeah no, gave up at the first boss.

The first boss is probably the easiest level.

Yeah, you don't know hard until you get to the bonus level where they have you play Unwell by Matchbox 20 and throw crazy junk at you for laughs. The beats come so quickly you can hardly see them, and 4 of the 6 beats they give you are skipped.

On top of that, they switch up the timing for the beats like every 2 seconds. It's insanity.

Compared to that, everything else is super easy.

I realized that the very first time I tried the boss, but I keep missing it slightly, it's extremely hard for me manage it exactly.

Really? I thought that one was pretty easy. Maybe the first very fast bit catches you offguard with the speed but otherwise it doesn't really change.

EDIT: Holy shit I just found out about the secret level.
