Yes. The world remains a psychotic hellscape of fighting beasts, fire and the shredded remains of all non-monstrous life. Same as ever.
I'd like to imagine that this world was originally a normal Dwarf Fortress world, with only moderate amounts of madness and carnage. Twelve years ago some kind of cataclysm happened and the world was filled with otherworldly monsters; that marks the start of the current calendar.
Anyway, it is month of Moonstone of the year 12, according to whatever calendar. The miners have broken into a huge abandoned labyrinth and found a blue garnet quern which was gladly added as a part of the kitchen complex. The wheat flour roasts made with it taste great, save some odd flavor that no one can't quite identify.
Olsmo the she-dragon has adopted trapdoor spider tactics, hiding in a hole waiting for passing wildlife to savage. Once I witnessed her shooting flames upwards from her hideout, presumably directed at a giant parakeet flying past. The resulting fire burned half of the map to ashes... again. This might be a recurring problem in the future.
Ostoth the roc has parked herself almost directly above the fortress entrance but it seems she's flying too high to notice little dwarves scuttling about. Instead she's directing her vigilance towards various flying wildlife and brutalizing them midair. Falling and exploding bird carcasses provide welcome addition to fortress food stores.
Savagesilver now has twenty-six citizens, or should I say terrified survivors. Budding military is already drilling with their caravan-bought equiment, aiming to become strong enough to take on the monsters on their own terms.
