Bio: Veda was born to a wealthy caravaneer. Their mother, someone from the Abbi tribes, died due to childbirth and so they only had their father. Veda followed their father on trade missions and took to using dark magic as a mean of self-defence just like their father. The Gurdiel Company was well known to have many well-equipped mercenaries that would make a minor lord jealous, and Veda had seen a fair share of brave bandits getting themselves mercilessly cut down, despite their father's best attempt to shield them from such display.
While Veda has had some knowledge of the arcane art, controlling it is a different matter, and so they were forbidden from ever helping in a battle. It was for their own good, as their father had said, and everyone knew the Gurdiel Company is invincible. That is, until a bandit lord known as the Grey Jackal saw the Company as the perfect target to demonstrate his strength, and had ambushed them on a business trip. Veda and their father escaped from the battle in the confusion, but their father had been struck with a poisoned arrow and expired a week later at the village they found. Having their wealth robbed and their only family killed, Veda had took some time to recover in the village before setting off to singlehandedly bring down the Grey Jackal.
Predictably, the bandits captured them without that much of a fight, but Veda was saved by the mercenaries who had attacked the Jackal's lair coincidentally, wanting to claim the bounty. Again, the mage slipped off in the confusion, but the image of the armies cutting down the bandits left and right stayed with them, and they soon realized that they must have more experience if they hope to take vengeance upon the bandits.
Hoping to perhaps find some help, they set for Zorestra in the hope of finding help among the royalty, or at least the officials whom their father had struck connections with. Most of them seemed to feign ignorance when the name of the Gurdiel Company was brought up, but finally the Captain of the city guards had offered to help in repayment for the kindness their father had done to him. He took Veda to the court where they could petition for help find the bandit lord as well as recompense for the disaster. After much negotiations and pleading, as well as Veda's mention of their knowledge in the arcane art, they found themselves as a mercenary for the Prince's journey, with a promise of livelihood to help them recover. Seeing that everyone they had known had died to bandits, they figured that it would be time to finally participate in battle, especially as a mercenary.
