I was thinking something along the same lines. Warcraft or Everquest or some other mmorpg with dwarves, other than that I don't recall a lot of single player games that include dwarves (other than Tolkein ones )

Bullion, Serondal: No, not WoW. Never played the damn thing.
I think the Dark Lord reference is a bit misleading...  A more correct name is Lord of Darkness probably.
Also, the glowing sword is unique in the game.

Is it actually a dwarf in the game? Is it Astanax(SP?) you kinda look like a dwarf in that game and you fight a lord of darkness in the end with a glowy sword I think. It's been a long time  maybe its (magic sword) you get a dwarf companion in that and you CERTAINLY get a glowy sword WAIT!

Is it Golden Axe?

Anyways, no, missed again.

I'll go the easy way again and give you another clue - you can be either a dwarf, or any of the three humans, and you get a glowing sword for the last battle in any case. The power of said sword will depend on your actions during the game, and a decision when you obtain it.
