Armor plates on creatures
« on: April 02, 2015, 09:18:33 pm »

I want to make a creature with individual shell plates on some of its body parts. The idea is that fighting it requires you to attack specific areas, and after killing and butchering it, you can make a set of armor out of it. What would be the best to go do this? Thanks in advance.

That's the only way I could think of. However, you'd have to be careful with how you do it. I don't know about that but with making elves able to shoot blood that's made of steel it.. Well, didn't turn out too well...

Might make more sense to just add the tissues on top of the skin, if it's supposed to be additional armor.

But there are supposed to be gaps in this armor, so layered on top of certain body parts only.  As for making a suit of armor out of the bits, that's harder.  You can make an extra-butcher-item of "armor plates" and a custom reaction to turn them into actual pieces of armor.  I don't think extra-butcher-items scale with creature size, so just design the reaction expecting you'll get 1 "armor plates" item.
