Walk right down there and give that mean old Eldridge abomination a motherly glare, followed by a powerful scolding using your new evil eyes.

You hurry down the stairs to attempt to thwart the growing presence of the Many Faced Horror. You give it an evil, fear inducing glare!

The Many Faced Horror is paralyzed with fear!

Skullbold: Punch growling book in snout to establish dominance.

Then take it, Necromancy and You: A Beginners Guide to Raising the Dead, all Five issues of "Necrobone" monthly, Demons, Spirits, Gods, and the Undead: A Guide to the Supernatural, The Cultist's Cookbook, Fear and How to Control It, Grobnak and You: An informational handbook on the delights of death god worship, and finally: The Dread Pirate Stockman: A choose your own adventure tale.

Also look for anything interesting.

You punch the book on its cover and it recoils. It begins to cry a little, you monster.

You collect the following items and put them in a pile by the base of the bookshelf from bottom to top:

Necromancy and You: A Beginners Guide to Raising the Dead
Demons, Spirits, Gods, and the Undead: A Guide to the Supernatural
Five Issues of Necrobone monthly
The Cultist's Cookbook
Fear and How to Control It
Grobnak and You: An informational handbook on the delights of death god worship
The Dread Pirate Stockman: A choose Your own adventure tale
The Necroniminicon

You gather some other interesting items from the bookshelf:

Three copper pipes
A bag of inventory
A scrying orb
A rough gem

There's far too many items here that you can carry on your person.

"So uh... whatcha... up to over there? And why did your friend go back downstairs?"

Combine ball of frustration and summon water to make a CUP OF FRUSTRATION and keep it for later use.

You master the new spell: Cup of Frustration!

Anyone who drinks from this will be extremely frustrated!

Currently known spells are:

Summon Cup of Water
Ball of Frustration
Summon Cup of Frustration

Don't we also have "Congeal blood" ~?

You used pure willpower to do that action, and does not count as a spell.

Also tell the cultist guy we have absolutely no idea why he went down there and we've always thought he was a lil off his rocker.

Learn time travel at the end of this adventure, then come back in time and give important meta advice to your past self.

Give "The Dread Pirate Stockman" to the thing downstairs.

There's no way you're going back there, especially with those two hanging around. You're far happier up here with all your new books, thank you.

Learn time travel at the end of this adventure, then come back in time and give important meta advice to your past self.

You come to the resolution that you're going to pair up with your future self to solve the problems you're too lazy to solve now. Your future self never shows up to help, and you vow to take revenge on your future self for this act of insolence.

Offer our cultist friend a drink

Also tell the cultist guy we have absolutely no idea why he went down there and we've always thought he was a lil off his rocker.

You give over your cup of frustration to your cultist buddy and tell him that you've got no idea what that other guy is up to and that he's always been one rock short of a rockslide, if you catch your drift.

He happily takes your cup and takes a deep gulp.

"Well, whatever, this is stupid, your face is stupid, he's stupid, and this whole place is stupid. I'm done, you can do your ECA inspection somewhere else or whatever! Good day!"

The cultist then storms up the steps grumbling and muttering.

Skullbold: Stroke the scrying orb passionately.

You stroke the orb passionately, telling it what a good orb it is, and that you'll always love it no matter what the other orbs say about it.

An image appears on the orb, it looks to be a very sad mushroom. You're not sure if you did it right.

It is clearly the soul of an immortal mushroom powering the scrying sphere, it is overwhelmed with joy that someone would Say such a nice thing to it, And hopes to one day be free of the sphere so it can thank you in person with it's eternal servitude.

Apologize to the necronomicon, and stop scaring the orb. Read the necronomicon. Combine ball of frustration with itself, then combine that spell with itself, then repeat until the spell's mana cost reaches the maximum amount of mana you can have currently, then (without casting it) find out how mad it will make people. Is it a curse of eternal frustration?

Stonut: to battle!
-1, instead adopt the flesh horror as a pet/son/daughter/child.
