Wait this is an actual discussion of trees and not pot? Internet, you've outdone yourself.

My personal favorites are pacific coast redwoods. I know, I know, overdone. What can I say? I suppose I find any living thing impressive if it's managed to survive the anthropocene despite being especially large and economically useful and isn't deer.

I visited the oak and the chestnut I planted myself.
Spoiler: Here they are: (click to show/hide)
They're so big already. I remember them as nuts ^_^
Here's a tree I found at a park as a sprout growing in the sandbox:

I'm not sure exactly what type of tree it is, but it's got a thorny trunk and ivy-like leafs. It's at least 12 years old now, I think.

And dynamite trees, for their exploding fruit! And spines!

Fire wheel trees, for their astounding wheels of fire:
We've got fire trees here. :3
When I get a nice shot of actual fire trees, I'm uploading them here :I
And by fire trees, I'm pretty serious--orange leaves all over in small, clustered bunches.
Unsure as to their species, but they're along the highways connecting the cities and rural areas.

I don't want to be seen as an elf-fondling, tree-hugging traitor, but I like sequoia and cedar.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Anybody know what kind of tree this is? It's been confounding me for a while now.

Well, from the photo alone I can tell that you live in either Arizona or New Mexico...
Close enough.

It's probably a type of sumac.
It seems more closely reminiscent of a willow. Leaves are less pointy and don't droop down, though.

Not any willow I've seen, my willows have leaves like soft spaghetti dangling down like so many curled locks of green hair
