Regina

The old man sighs as you rush to the gate, and as you turn the key he mutters to himself.

“Oh, to be young…”

The bars swing aside with a metallic click, leaving the stairs open. From the top of the stairs comes the cool glow of natural daylight.

Ayzebel growled in frustration.
"Useless old man..."
She followed Regina, stalking past the old man and resisting the urge to thump him one.

"Well, I hope that's the sun...I doubt we're out of trouble, yet, though..." Regina said.

Action: To the surface!

All

Your hearts sink as you crest the top of the stairs to find a circular wall. High, high above, set firmly into the stone is what appears to be a single gigantic pane of glass, the late morning light shining through it. It is soaked in water drops, causing the floor to shimmer and dance, and the sound of pattering rain to echo down to you. A single wooden door, fuzzed with mould, sits opposite you in the tower wall, and from beyond comes the tantalising sound of damp earth.

Between you and it however, sits a literal bonefield. It is covered in yellowing human shards. Some are scored, the mark of blades long past, whilst some lie crushed. Around them are wrapped the remains of armour - Kulandrian and Ixani, Willheimian and Bonapi. Blades rise out of the dirt floor, seemingly discarded where they fell, and scratches and chips coat the base of the walls.

Oddly, however, a clear path lies between you and the doorway, as if to direct you onwards.

"Humm. Seems like it won't be as easy was walking across the room..."

Action: Can I tell anything about their positions/corpses as to how these people died?

Regina

The damage to the bones would seem to indicate that they died through violent ends - in battle, you would imagine from the armour.

However, the bones seem to be scattered almost at random - pieces of the same set of armour lie metres apart, and no skeleton seems to lie where it might have fallen intact.

"A dumping ground? Or a trap? It almost seems as if they were tossed about in a giant storm..."

Action: Regina kneels and rolls her stave down the clear hallway, and sees if anything happens.

Kanders takes a closer look at some of the nearer remains, trying to get a sense for how old it is based on the corrosion of the armor.

"I would recommend one of us - and too late to stop him well that figures. Half the time they're sensible, the other half they're idiots, I can't believe that we're even alive but why is everyone so eager to die all over again? Wasn't the first time bad enough?..." he falls into mumbling and muttering to himself as one of their number simply steps out and begins picking pieces up. A tiny part of him cringes at the mishandling of such a find. So much information could be gleaned from these. Unless they were all recent. He hoped they weren't. They didn't look it.

"Armour could be useful... but being cautious is better, I think."

Felicity hung near Ayzebel's side, unwilling to be the one to investigate the pile.

Regina

You roll your stave down the path, leaving your hands empty. A moment passes before anything happens - a bone whizzes over your shoulder, coming to rest midair above the path, a second later, many of the rest stir, condensing into the shape of a giant skeleton, easily ten metres tall. It does not yet appear to have finished forming.

Kanders

Oddly enough, despite the apparent aging of the bones, the armour does not seem aged - much of it is battle scarred, but that appears to be the only source of damage. However, before your eyes the scratches seem to shift, taking some more ordered shape. Many of the bones seem to rise up into the air, taking the armour with them. They begin to condense into the form of a giant skeleton, though it does not yet seem to have finished forming.

Embrus

You wander a couple of feet into the bonefield, to where a sword protrudes from the ground. A skeletal hand still grips its hilt. However, as you reach for the blade, your fingers brushing its worn hilt, it twitches. A moment later, the hand rises into the air, blade firmly in its grasp, to stop over the path. Many other bones are rising to join it, forming some kind of giant skeleton, almost ten metres tall. It does not yet seem fully formed.

"This isn't even remotely fair!" Regina fumed, mouth agape. A 30ft tall skeleton monster, and she didn't even have a real knife!

"...Come on, let's get across the room before it finishes forming. Our comrade has volunteered to bravely distract it for us, after all...head around the edges, watch your step-try not to get your head swiped off by one of those flying swords."

Action: Run carefully around the edge of the room, sticking to the wall (less chance of being clonked by a flying bonesword that way) and head around to the door and try to escape. Quickly, now! If I do get away, make sure to pick up my stave too.
