There are two paths: Become the capital, or stay away from barony.

I may want to stay distant, but the perks of becoming the capital are many. My vote goes to whatever the majority is at the time of decision.

Despite having the savagery high and the amount of megabeasts at its highest I have had few dangerous encounters and have been playing for about 3 to five years now. Not even a single Kobold to speak of. :( Someone needs to entertain my attack jaguars.

-catches up on reading-

So I lost an eye.....

And later killed a giant?

I'm becoming awesome.

How effective was I in the fight? Did I do good, or was I just lucky to make the final blow?

Did you assign a jaguar to me? (Dang it, just how does bay12 hate elves when they bring such awesome stuff?)

I think your final blow to the giant was lucky as a whole bunch of dwarves were swarming around it. As for the jaguars I was sure how to assign them or train and accidentally assigned them to myself, or they were claimed by me or something along those lines. But at least now I know how to train animals.

Also I have a minor setback. Last night it failed to save correctly.

I got a cougar just now if you would like that as a pet.

On that note, is it possible to have pets in adventure mode or has been suggested yet?

I could help with an adorable name. I have 2 ducklings next to my bed (in rl) that I could stare at until a name comes through my head.

How does one go about assigning an animal to a specific dwarf?

Sadly despite the cougar being a large predatory cat, it can not be trained for hunting nor war. But fear not, for I am hoping sooner or later the jaguars to have babies, and one of them can become your pet. I also take any "cool" animals I find from trade caravans.
