Help me get better at DMing: is this game way, way too wordy?

Holy shit yes

Slightly less long-winded would be better.

No, it's fine as it is.

I am dangerously insane and demand an excess of words. Double the length of each update.

Guys, please no elementalism. Every time a magic SG comes up, we ALWAYS choose elementalism(Or the equivalent...). Why cant we just do something not normal?

Because the first three magics are basically the same, only differing in the methods by which their equal effects are reached.

While I probably didn't do a very good job explaining them, the idea is that Mentalism lets you be a reality-warping avatar of destruction/restructuring, Geometricism lets you do complicated, incredibly powerful rituals with preparation while restricting you somewhat on the fly, and Spiritualism is a middle ground between the other two.

I'll admit that this probably comes from inexperience but how would rituals be useful to an on-the-move adventurer? Also, I have no memory of reading about any magical rituals enacted by the player as part of a ritual-using class. Whenever a player used rituals it was always a part of the plot rather than as a tool for players to use.

As an example, suppose you needed defense from something chasing you. A mentalist couldn't make a shield, but she could create a field of energy that would tear apart anything that passed through it for as long as she could sustain the field. A spiritualist would conjure an actual shield for as long as she could sustain it. A geometricist could take a moment to scratch some markings on the ground and create a shield that lasts for a set period of time, much longer than either of the others could hold up their shield. In addition, the geometricist's shield wouldn't require focus to maintain.

Fair enough. When I thought 'ritual' I thought altars and blood moons and throwing powder into fire.

Well, a geometricist would be able to do that too if you needed to break something really big. Like a small town or something.

Amazing art.

Thanks!

Looks like geometrist is winning by a significant margin, but there's still only one vote on a course of action.
