Like the title says. What questions would really cut to the heart of the matter, and tell you the most about how someone plays Dwarf Fortress. Whether they be fun or psychology.

P.S. I'm making a survey (hence this topic).

"How fun is losing?"

To determine whether we're talking a careful, conservative player out to build utopias and megaprojects, or someone whose idea of fertile ground involves eye stalk grass, dead dwarves rising from the grave, glorious victory, and even more glorious defeat.

Do you defend by military force, or clever engineering, or both?

Which mode(s) do you primarily play? Questions should branch from that base question.

"What was your favourite update?"

Works well enough to distinguish which aspects of DF they're interested in, whether it's the history generation, content updates, mechanics changes, etc etc.  Of course, the question kinda falls apart if they weren't there when the update happened, eg. z-levels intro.

How do you feel about goblins? Humans? Elves? Kobolds?

Even if you found a suitable opening, I doubt it would prove all too satisfying. And it might leave some nasty wounds, depending on the moral high ground's geology.

Baffler likes silver, walnut trees, the color green, tanzanite, and dogs for their loyalty. When possible he prefers to consume beef, iced tea, and cornbread. He absolutely detests ticks.

Even a simple yes speaks volumes. Most will add a few extra lines explaining it. You will get your answer from it though.

This is a good question.  Some players do, some players don't, although with recent changes to the elves it is less useful to trade with them since they bring fewer useful goods.

I do, but only if they bring good things, if there goods please me, I trade peacefully (unless i relly need it or am in a bad mood, then I rob them blind) if they fail to bring anything good I will do anything from rob them for the fun of it, to kill the.

I do now, my fortress eats up grown wood (read: charcoal feed stock) and exotic liquors they sell. I just couldn't bring myself to kill them anymore after this happened.
