You're probably already aware of this but to let you know PC Gamer magazine in the UK has had Dwarf Fortress on coverdisc for two months, with a very complimentary article this month.

So the issue with the DF article is out now?  Of all the magazine mentions, I guess the only one I get to see is the little column that appeared in Game Informer a while ago.

It would be interesting to see the scan of the article.

The #2 caption is incorrect.  This already IS the "best indie game (hell, drop the 'indie') ever."

Lol, I loved #2...I'm curious though on how many will actually come here and start playing now that so many have read about this game. Will be interesting to see just how many gamers are immune to the allergic reactions of ASCII and true gameplay.

It's time to play...Review the review!

It's pretty good overall, he touches on some of the best points of the game. His fortress has some problems, like the one-tile-wide hallway, but that's a common new-player mistake. "Can anyone spot the mistake I'm going to end up paying for sooner rather than later?" Well, the batman invasion might hurt a little; not enough traps?  :( Is your farm bigger than 7x7? For shame!

Thanks for scanning it, X. I used to get that magazine, too. Guess I cancelled too soon.

Wasn't there another mag that reviewed DF and interviewed Toady and Three Toe? That one was a little more thorough...oh yeah, it was in Games for Windows (TIGsource has the scans). That was quite a while ago. There's tons of mentions online, too, one of the better ones is the Dubious Quality interview (he posts about DF quite a bit).

That article was how I found (and loved) DF. So it's nearly been a year already, eh? Wow.

I laughed at this.  Hm, if that's the first time he's played that he's a lot better than I was :P  I don't think that fort was capable of winter 2, myself.

I'm from that GFW review myself.  Though that was just a little corner on the freeloader page.

Doh. The first time I saw this thread the images weren't showing up, and I just checked it again and the replacements are missing as well. I really wanted to see the article, too.
Imageshack.us is pretty good about not messing with your images, you might consider using them.

As of that post Janus, and baring service blips, the images *are* up. You may wish to re-note the last word "refresh", which is actually a command in disguise.
