I find mild intoxication to be more enjoyable than shitfaced drunk, personally.

also, alcohol can be a pleasant flavoring in and of itself.

The entire problem here is the flavor.

And yeah, a buzz might be nice, but if you really don't like drinking alcohol it's probably not worth going through all the trouble of trying to mask it.

Alcohol can be harsh, and it can also be smooth and refined.

It depends on how the spirit is used in the drink or cuisine, how it will come out.  The problem sounds like the OP hates the harsh flavored alcohol types. (Strong spirits, like vodka, everclear, and white rum have this problem. Burns the mouth, alcohol taste dominates the palate, hard to mask or cover up.) Other kinds of alcoholic beverage, like the previously mentioned hard cider, have a more complex flavor, and the alcohol taste blends right into the fruity and smoky tones of the beverage. Similar with a good aged scotch, or bourbon.

I dont even drink that often, and you are making me sound like a booze snob. LOL.

Basically, it all depends on how the booze is used. Hard white spirits are usually used for 3 purposes. 1) disinfectants. 2) Mixers, and 3) Lushes who want to get drunk 'Right fucking now'.

The more refined (as in classy) alcohols?  More specialized, and thus need to be used as best suits their unique flavor qualities.

What will I do about my jerk friends?
A) Be designated driver. Enjoy their drunk shenanigans and gratitude.
B) Hang out with them in other settings. Surely you have something more in common with them than the thing you don't have in common with them.
C) Find new friends you do have things in common with. You did just call them jerks after all.
All of these are better options then drinking.
So you have absolutely nothing whatsoever to add, but you just post in here purely to be a dick?

Wow, rude.

Thanks guys as for "lower alcohol content" well us Canadians love our alcohol. I think Light Beer is 4-5%.

Otherwise we tend to be in the higher ranges. :P

Also oddly enough to add to the tips for myself: I found that icecream is actually really good for removing the taste of alcohol from your mouth.

I'd almost prefer to drink with a plate of icecream if that was ever socially acceptable.

Unfortunately the "Jerks" include my parents... Though they seem to have relaxed this more and more over the years. Probably because they saw what the kind of people who are like "if you aren't drinking you aren't being sociable" are.

Actually...

Are there any good ways to mix the alcohol with the icecream? or would that lead to the whole "Now you have a HUGE plate of bad tasting icecream" thing?

No-one suggested absinthe yet? Properly diluted high-grade stuff doesn't taste like alcohol at all -- it tastes like toothpaste or mouthwash. Absinthe-flavored ice cream sounds yummy as well... I'd try it if I could afford such luxuries.

Never have I seen parents who want their kid to drink more.

Wow, rude.

@Neonivek
By the way, I find it interesting that you can handle rum better than beer -- for most people (like me) it's the other way round. Rum contains large amounts of fusel alcohols and other congeners -- nauseating stuff that worsens hangover symptoms.

It has to do with the overwhelmingly bad taste of beer (well for me) that I can't even force down without gagging.

As for why my parents wanted me to drink more. I am intrapersonal I have few friends and make friends slowly. They are more afraid that I wouldn't be sociable in a situation with alcohol.

If alcohol causes you stomach pains maybe you shouldn't be drinking? That sounds like a health concern.

White Russian is close, and a common drink - vodka, coffee liqueur and cream.  Or a B-52 - coffee liqueur, irish cream, triple sec.  You can easily substitute chocolate/white chocolate or nut liqueur in those too.

Or, for some less-common alternatives:

http://www.absolutdrinks.com/en/drinks/with/vanilla-liqueur/

Ooh check out these, some are fairly common like Brandy Alexander and Ramos Gin Fizz, and Eggnog more a Christmas drink.
http://www.absolutdrinks.com/en/drinks/with/cream/
Tiger Milk or Vanilla Alexander sound tasty, or Blue Angel or Ocho Rios.  Stars and Stripes looks pretty, and reasonably tasty.  Or Neopolitan, hmm I'd try it with and without the simple syrup.

Anyway, try some of those.  There's actually a cult market for super-fancy drinks like these, I know a place that specializes in making drinks like the French 75 (consider that too -gin, lemon juice, champagne and sugar)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_75_%28cocktail%29

Oh, and how could I forget one of my favorite cocktails, my namesake and a classic!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimlet_%28cocktail%29 - awesome made with fresh lime juice, you mostly taste that instead of the gin/vodka...   Oh, you said you liked rum, that version is called a Daiquiri http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daiquiri

It hurts the first time alcohol is drunk and is painful for like 30 minutes >_<

I thought that was just a normal side effect.

No. That is not normal.
It sounds like a sign of stomach ulcers or something similar causing sensitivity, but I'm not a doctor so there's good chance my not-diagnosis is totally wrong.
