Baileys.

A little bit of baileys isn't bad at all, and when combined with ice cream or coffee or hot chocolate is pretty much just like adding a little bit of cream.


I also second the suggestion of cider. Angry Orchard is great stuff.

Heartburn sort of pain? I've had problems with it ever since I got ripped on metaxa without realizing how strong it was. Fun night, up until the vomiting with the (small amount of) blood and all that. Anyway! You may need to make sure you stick to lighter stuff - I know I can't really stomach liquor anymore, but beer is fine and so are low-strength wines (or strong ones in moderation). Sounds like you can't stand beer, but is that the flavor or does it also cause the stomach pain for you? It might be worthwhile to experiment with wines, especially fruit ones that might have a wider variety of flavors.

That's not normal.

Normal reaction to alcohol intake is to feel a slight warm sensation in your stomach. Not fullness, not pain, not acid.

That fatty things like icecream help with this sensation makes me wonder about possible GI disorders, like an eroded esophagus, prolapsed stomach/esophagus, or just ordinary GERD. (ulcers would be in this category as well.)

Very possible the alcohol just kept me from expelling the carbonation.

Though I remember the first time I took alcohol being a pretty similar experience... >_<

Oh yes, Baileys (or other kinds of Irish cream) is an excellent suggestion! That stuff's delicious.
Goes great as a substitute for milk in coffee, too.

Don't listen to everybody saying bluh bluh don't drink, it's fine in moderation.  Nerds is always too good for chemical intoxicants.  Vodka cocktails are a safe bet, I always get one at the local bar with like, vodka, sprite, grape juiice, and the like.  Just be careful, its easy to get mad fucked up when you can't taste the alcohol.

Oh and don't drink alone, that's how you become an alcoholic.  Always drink with friends.

Just to clarify, nobody here is saying drinking itself is bad. Just that if you don't enjoy it, or your body reacts negatively to alcohol, then there are alternatives.

Just a question, but are you of asian descent? It's possible that you have alcohol intolerance, which has stomach pain/nausea as one of it's many symptoms (and is most common in those of asian descent, though it can occur elsewhere).

And yeah, the idea here is that if you are encountering symptoms like were listed, you probably should either be seeing a doctor to see if there is something you can do or looking into alternatives (which do exist as others have pointed out). If a few drinks make you feel like your stomach is in constant pain, that is definitely signs that something more important is going on there that needs to be dealt with before you drink.

Hey, we Germans are Europeans as well.   

Topic: Some cocktails are really mean in that you can hardly taste the alcohol. But drink one to many and you'll feel it when you get up from your seat.

I would also recommend some more creamy alcohol or cocktail. Some of those with coconut milk perhaps?
