Interlude.

One of the explorers came up.

"Your honor," he said, "I understood that you will allow expeditions again. You see, both the mountain and the clearings are the most interesting part on this island. We would you to authorize and organize an expedition to either location, and perhaps you can come and lead us to glory."
Yes. The clearings. ((By "the jungle" we actually meant the clearings. Sorry if there was a mixup.))

All fanfics are heresy, each and every one, especially the shipping ones. Those are by far the worst.

Interlude, continued.

You instruct Garcia and the explorers to check how much provisions we can bring, and how many people are willing to come. By the end of the day you've received the following list:

15 adventurers
10 soldiers
5 slaves

100 person-days of non-perishable provisions if eaten at normal rate

Work Tools:
State of the art - 5 sets
Okay - 50 sets
Poor - 30 sets
Weapons
State of the art - 14 sets
Okay - 50 sets
Poor - 30 sets
Beasts of burden/mount: 4 heads

Tools and personnel not taken will be returned to general stockpile.

You still have time to decide whether the expedition team will head to the mountains or the clearing/forest.

State of the art weapons for ourselves, Okay tools and weapons for everyone else, 1 beast of burden for ourselves, and the rest will be left to chance (slaves don't get a chance, though). Go to the clearing.

(how many of "yourselves" are you going to bring? Also you don't need to bring everyone.)

I'd assumed we would take everyone. Giving it some thought, though, I think we should take 15 adventurers and 4 soldiers. Plus us it'll equal 20 guys which means we'll be able to adventure for 5 whole days.

+1 to crew, but give all the soldiers state of the art weapons, no reason to go adventuring with stunted odds and those weapons aren't going to get any more state of the art...

(Because no one give me a better plan.)

You lead out a team of 20 men in total to the clearing in the jungle sighted on ship.

- Tonio, State of the Art Weapons, State of the Art Tools, 1 beast of burden
- 4 Soldiers, State of the art weapons, okay tools
- 15 adventurers, ok weapons, okay tools
- 3 beasts of burden carrying 100 person-days of non-perishable provisions

Day 1 of adventure.

So we left. I talked with Garcia with the general idea for the colony, and he seems to be agreeing. He said he will carry out my plans as closely as possible. Excellent.

Environment roll: [38]
Supply Roll: [85]
Event Roll: [59]
Progress roll: [30]+10 for no event/?
Supplies left: 100+20-20=100

The drizzle is making me very uncomfortable. Despite the weather, the adventurers seems to be pretty handy in wilderness survival, as they collected enough food for everyone over the day. Other than this, today is just a all day jungle trek.

Day 2 of adventure.

Environment roll: [85]
Supply Roll: [25]
Event Roll: [58]
Progress roll: 40+[5]+10 for no event+10 for Good weather/?
Supplies left: 100+5-20=85

The rain has once again receded: the gods must certainly be a bit fickle here. Despite the sun, I'm sure that we are quite slow today. Most of the time the adventurers are literally beating bushes for game and tubers to eat, but at the end today's hunt is only good enough for 5 men.

Day 3 of adventure.

Environment roll: [30]
Supply Roll: [92]
Event Roll: [32]
Progress roll: 65+[42]/?
Supplies left: 100+25-20=90

Its once again rainy today. We got attacked by a small pack of aggressive animal; despite their green hairy skin making them hard to spot in the jungle, the spear-wielding soldiers supported by adventurers throwing javelins (Battle roll: [70]+25(Military strength)>80(threat) = minor success) dispatched them quite professionally. We skinned them and cooked their meat for supper. We even have some leftovers which we'll eat tomorrow.

Day 4 of adventure.

Environment roll: [23]
Supply Roll: [2]
Event Roll: [79]
Progress roll: 107+[16]/?
Supplies left: 90-25=65

This must be the rainly season, as the rain has got even worse. It's so bad that we found yesterday's game spoiled by it, and in addition we found nothing edible from the hard dry soil. We are moving quite slowly today, hardly able to make our direction, but by dusk we had an interesting find. We found a track in the endless forests, and more importantly, carved wood artifacts.

Following this might be able to bring you to some natives. Despite this, one of the adventures reminded you that the direction of the track is clearly off the intended bearing. He insisted that we should keep to our own plans.

What are you going to do?

Keep to our own plans. Our adventurer friend is more experienced than us and that he's insisting we stay on course leads me to believe it's best course of action.

Stay the course, we can explore the new found tracks another day.

Stick to the plan
(effect: ?)

You decided that you should not let the side track... sidetrack you.

Day 5 of adventure.

Environment roll: [62]
Supply Roll: [44]
Event Roll: [52]
Progress roll: 123+[72]+5 for fair weather + 10 for no event / 200!
Supplies left: 65-10=55

While we ultimately decide not to follow those tracks, it still convinces us that other "beings" should be near. This alone is enough to overcome the overcast sky, and five long days of trekking in jungles. As dusk approaches, you decide to make camp on a hill, but as you approaches the hilltop, you saw flames in the distance, coming from some kind of artificial settlement.

A cursory look, taken just before it was completely dark, revealed that there are around 20 separate buildings. One or two of them are larger than the rest. You can see at least 50 figures doing civilized things among them. What will you do?

Take note of the settlement's location, but don't approach it

We're still getting an idea of the layout of the island, no reason to get uppity at the locals just yet...
